Rockies - Rex Brothers seems to be the odds on favorite to replace Rafael Betancourt as the Rockies closer after Betancourt just placed on the 15-day disabled list after undergoing having an appendicitis Friday. Brothers has been superb in 2013 with a 1.11 ERA to go with four saves, 10 holds, and 42 strikeouts over 40.2 innings.

Justin Smoak, 1B, SEA - In the theory of "get them while they're" there aren't many better options on the waiver wire right now than Smoak. In the month of July Smoak has been hitting off the charts with a .375 average, .455 OBP, and 1.142 OPS. Smoak was part of the package that saw Cliff Lee leave Seattle for Texas in 2010, but has never lived up to the potential that made him the headline of that deal at the time. A move for Smoak definitely comes with the risk that he will go cold for the rest of the year, and be sent back down to the minors like he was earlier this year, but as long as he's hot there is no reason not to consider picking him up.
