Closer Watch

Nationals - Closer Rafael Soriano picked up his second win of the season Friday against the Mets when he was given the ball with the game tied at one in the ninth, got three outs, and had his team score in the bottom of the inning on a walk off homer by Ryan Zimmermann. Soriano has not record a save since July 14, the last game before the All-Star break, but the Nationals haven't been that great since then having only won twice in nine games played. There shouldn't be any questions as to who is the Nationals man in the ninth inning, but Soriano hasn't lights out as he has given up a run three out of his last six appearances, and if that streak continues Davey Johnson may have to start reconsidering his options.

Recommended Pickup

David Lough, OF, KC - For any team that needs some help in the outfield and with their batting averages, Lough is a guy that is a great option and that will be available in almost every format on the waiver wire. Since being drafted in the eleventh round out of Mercyhurst College in 2007 by the Royals Lough has done nothing but hit for average having accumulated a .297 batting average in seven minor league seasons, and now has a .304 average for the Royals in 194 at-bats since being called up on May 17. Lough qualifies at left-field and right-field in most formats, and also center-field in leagues with lower positional standards. Lough hasn't been guaranteed playing time in Kansas City, but he has played his way into it, and as long as his bat stays hot he will be getting regular at-bats.
