Closer Watch

San Diego - After giving up a two-out double to Nate Schierholtz in the ninth inning of Thursday's game against the Cubs, Huston Street struck out Luis Valbuena to preserve a 4-2 win for the Padres. It was the right-hander's sixth save of the season, and fourth consecutive scoreless appearance. His ERA on the year is sitting up at 4.09 and Luke Gregorson has been strong thus far (1.35 ERA, 0.75 WHIP), but Street has yet to blow a save and his job as closer appears safe.

Washington - Rafael Soriano made it eight consecutive scoreless appearances with a clean ninth inning against the Braves on Thursday. He did give up a single to Evan Gattis, but that's the lone hit against Soriano in his last six innings of work. The right-hander's nine saves on the year have him two behind the National League lead.

Recommended Pickup

Delmon Young, OF, PHI - Offseason ankle surgery kept Young out for nearly all of the first month of the season, but he returned Tuesday and launched a 396-foot homer off the Indians' Zach McAllister in his first at-bat of 2013. Young finished 2-for-3 on the day, and while he's 0-for-6 in two games since, the 27-year-old should see a healthy amount of playing time in right field for Philadelphia moving forward. He's a career .284/.317/.426 hitter who can provide decent home run and RBI production, so it's worth checking to see if Young is available in your league.
