Losing streak hits four
Yanan lost to Lucie Pudilova via TKO (elbows) at 4:04 of Round 2 at UFC 278 on Saturday.
ANALYSIS
Yanan actually won the significant striking battle in Round 1, but she also spent 3:19 being controlled by Pudilova on the mat. While she did a good job avoiding damage, it wasn't enough to earn her the frame. Round 2 started with a few striking exchanges, but Pudilova again brought her to the mat with a head-and-arm toss. After a few scrambles for position, Yanan ended up giving up her back, and Pudilova closed the show with ground-and-pound. It was a lackluster performance for Yanan in a fight she potentially had to win to save her roster spot. The 26-year-old is now just 1-5 under the UFC banner and could very well be headed to the regional circuit to get back on track.

Third straight defeat
Wu lost to Mayra Bueno Silva via unanimous decision (28-29, 28-29, 27-30) at UFC Fight Night on Saturday in Las Vegas.
ANALYSIS
Wu has theoretical upside because she won't turn 26 years of age until a couple days after this event, but with three straight setbacks and losses in four of her first five UFC bouts, it seems highly unlikely she gets another opportunity with the company. At the very least, she'll walk away with a $50,000 bonus after this bout was awarded Fight of the Night honors. Wu attempted to negate Silva's physical edge by throwing a ton of volume on the feet. Wu connected on 13 less strikes than the Brazilian (88-75) despite throwing a whopping 79 more attempts (232-153). Wu did pick up a takedown and a couple minutes worth of control time in Round 2, but it still wasn't enough. Plenty of young fighters have left the UFC and gone elsewhere and returned and had success, and that may be the path Wu has to take moving forward.

Returning to Octagon vs. Bueno Silva
Yanan (12-4-0) is scheduled to face Mayra Bueno Silva (7-2-1) in a flyweight bout set for April 16 at the UFC's Fight Night event, Marcel Dorff of Eurosport.nl reports.
ANALYSIS
Yanan will be making her first appearance in the Octagon in more than a year after losing to Joselyne Edwards in her last bout Jan. 16, 2021. The 25-year-old from China had scheduled two fights since that time, but her matchups with Nicco Montano this past July and with Josiane Nunes for later this month were ultimately cancelled.

Out of Feb. 26 bout
Yanan has withdrawn from her Feb. 26 bout against Josiane Nunes, Team Iridium Sports Agency reports.
ANALYSIS
It's unclear why Yanan was forced to withdraw from the bout. Jennifer Gonzalez has been tabbed to take her place at the Feb. 26 event. Yanan ha now had her last two scheduled fights cancelled.
