Storied career ends in style
MiddleweightUFC
July 8, 2023
Lawler defeated Niko Price via KO (punches) at 0:38 of Round 1 at UFC 290 on Saturday in Las Vegas.
ANALYSIS
It's a true fairy tale ending in a sport that doesn't see many. Lawler, the former UFC Welterweight Champion, announced prior to the fight that this would be the last bout of his pro career. He went out and put forth a classic performance, trapping Price in the clinch before knocking him out cold with an upper cut to the jaw. The UFC played a fantastic tribute video to Lawler after the conclusion of the fight. Robbie ends his storied UFC run with a 15-10 mark in 25 bouts. A professional since April 2001 (!!!!!!), Lawler closes his career with victories over, among others, Frank Trigg, Rory MacDonald, Matt Brown, Carlos Condit, Donald Cerrone and Nick Diaz.

Lawler is out of his UFC 282 matchup against Santiago Ponzinibbio due to an undisclosed injury, Brett Okamoto of ESPN.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Lawler had been looking to bounce back from a loss to Bryan Barberena in July, but the cards were stacked against him, as he was set to enter as a betting underdog of approximately (+320). With Lawler sidelined, the promotion is hoping to find a short-notice replacement for Ponzinibbio with the event less than a week away.

Lawler will take on Santiago Ponzinibbio at UFC 282 on Dec. 10, Brett Okamoto of ESPN.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Lawler has really been struggling the last few years, with his lone win in his last six bouts being against Nick Diaz. Lawler was most recently in the Octagon in early July when he lost by TKO to Bryan Barberena.
Falls to 1-5 in past six fights
MiddleweightUFC
July 2, 2022
Lawler lost to Bryan Barberena via TKO (punches) at 4:47 of Round 2 at UFC 276 on Saturday in Las Vegas.
ANALYSIS
Not that Lawler was expected to make any sort of title run at age 40, but this result confirms it. In a true pick 'em fight, Robbie had a legitimate chance to win, and it appeared to be trending in that direction most of the bout. Barberena peppered Lawler with volume, but it was Robbie who landed the more impactful shots. At least, up until the end. There wasn't one shot that appeared to land flush and hurt Lawler more than any of the others Barberena connected with, but Robbie appeared wobbly all of the sudden late in Round 2, and the fight was over shortly thereafter. Lawler remained upright the entire time, but it was an excellent stoppage from referee Mark Smith. Robbie is now 1-5 in last six fights dating back to December 2017 and his lone victory in that span came against Nick Diaz in a fight in which Diaz essentially quit. The end is near, if it isn't here already. On the bright side, both men will take home a $50,000 Fight of the Night bonus.
Set for July 2 clash

May 3, 2022
Lawler will take on Bryan Barberena on the July 2 card, Marcel Dorff of Eurosport.nl reports.
ANALYSIS
Lawler picked up a victory via KO/TKO versus Nick Diaz last time out, stopping a slide of four consecutive losses dating back to 2017. He gets a chance to make it two wins in a row against Barberena, who stands an inch taller but yields two inches of reach.
