Scheduled for UFC Tampa

September 25, 2024
Taveras (undisclosed) is scheduled to compete against Davey Grant in a bantamweight fight at UFC Tampa on Dec. 14, per Nolan King of MMA Junkie.
ANALYSIS
Taveras will have an opportunity to go 2-0 after all. He was supposed to fight Caolan Loughran at UFC 304 before withdrawing from the event less than a week before it. Instead of Loughran, Taveras' next opponent is Grant, looking for his first win since March 2023.

Fortunate win after weight miss
BantamweightUFC
January 20, 2024
Taveras defeated Serhiy Sidey via split decision (29-28, 28-29, 29-28) at UFC 297 on Saturday in Toronto.
ANALYSIS
As the old saying goes, it's better to be lucky than good. And make no mistake about it, Taveras was lucky that two of the three judges felt he won this fight. Most everyone else that watched would have disagreed. Ramon started on fire after missing weight by almost four pounds Friday morning. There's absolutely a case to be made that he landed the bigger blows throughout the duration of the bout, but Sidey had a big edge in terms of volume over the course of the final ten minutes. It certainly appeared as if it should have been enough, but wasn't. Taveras' next issue is getting his issues on the scale figured out.
Misses weight, forfeits 30 percent
BantamweightUFC
January 19, 2024
Taveras will be penalized 30 percent of his purse for his fight against Serhiy Sidey at UFC 297 on Saturday after missing the bantamweight limit, MMAFighting.com reports.
ANALYSIS
It's a bad miss for Taveras, who came in nearly four pounds over the bantamweight limit of 136. It's a rough look for his UFC debut after earning a contract through Dana White's Contender Series. Sidey is also making his debut, and the pair actually faced off during DWCS, with Sidey being victorious.
Gets rematch with Sidey
BantamweightUFC
October 10, 2023
Taveras will fight Serhiy Sidey at UFC 297 on Jan. 20, Marcel Dorff of Eurosport.nl reports.
ANALYSIS
Taveras secured a UFC contract after defeating Cortavious Romious at Dana White's Tuesday Night Contender Series, and his first UFC fight will be a rematch with Sidey. Sidey defeated Taveras during their first bout in the Contender Series, so Taveras will surely be eager to even the score.
