Will get a shot at Weidman
Anders will take on Chris Weidman in a middleweight bout at UFC 310 on Dec. 7, Marcel Dorff of Eurosport.nl reports.
ANALYSIS
Anders' fight with Weidman was initially slated to occur on Nov. 16, but it wound up getting cancelled. No matter; the fighters will get to step into the octagon against one another just a few weeks later. Both are coming off wins the last time they fought in the UFC, with Anders' most recent victory coming over Bruno Silva.

Given former champ at NYC
Anders is scheduled to compete against fellow middleweight Chris Weidman at UFC 309 in New York City on Nov. 16, per Mike Bohn of MMAJunkie.com.
ANALYSIS
Anders' next opponent is arguably his biggest in terms of name value, a former UFC Middleweight Champion who most recently defeated Bruno Silva. Anders is coming off an impressive win of his own, a decision victory over Jamie Pickett. Not only will Anders get an opportunity to defeat a former UFC champion, but he can do it at the UFC's annual MSG event.

Wrestling game leads to win
Anders defeated Jamie Pickett via unanimous decision (29-27, 29-28, 29-28) at UFC Fight Night on Saturday in Las Vegas.
ANALYSIS
Anders fought reasonably well in a unanimous decision defeat to Marc-Andre Barriault last June. He returned here against an opponent in Pickett that entered having lost four straightm and Anders looked quite awful despite emerging with the win. The most notable blow of the fight went to Pickett with a Round 1 knockdown. Anders was able to get his wrestling game going consistently after recovering, landing 5-of-13 takedowns for 10:08 worth of control time, but Eryk somehow landed just 23 significant strikes despite his constant positional advantage. In short, Anders won this fight because he was facing an extremely low-level opponent, not because he accomplished anything of note. Set to turn 37 years old in April, Anders has alternated wins and losses in his last four bouts.

Taking on Jamie Pickett
Anders agreed to face Jamie Pickett in a middleweight bout at UFC Saudi Arabia on March 2, Marcel Dorff of Eurosport.nl reports.
ANALYSIS
Anders lost his lone fight of 2023 to Marc-Andre Barriault in June and has lost three of his past four bouts, so this is an important matchup for his UFC outlook. Pickett is trending in a similar direction with four straight losses, with the last coming against Josh Fremd in August.

Hangs tough in decision loss
Anders lost to Marc-Andre Barriault via unanimous decision (27-30, 27-30, 27-30) at UFC 289 on Saturday in Vancouver.
ANALYSIS
The result isn't what Anders was hoping for, but he was competitive the entire way -- no small feat considering he was knocked down and nearly finished by Barriault about 15 seconds into the fight. Anders tried to get his opponent to the mat time and time again, but ultimately landed just 1-of-11 takedown attempts, something that very well may have cost him the fight. Now 36 years of age, the end result aside, this is the type of fight of effort we need to see from Anders if he hopes to have any sort of sustained success moving forward. "Ya Boi" is just 1-3 in his last four bouts dating back to December 2021, so it's imperative Anders make a move sooner rather than later. In the meantime, he'll go home with an extra $50,000 after this bout was awarded Fight of the Night honors.
