Losing streak hits five
MiddleweightUFC
March 2, 2024
Pickett lost to Eryk Anders via unanimous decision (27-29, 28-29, 28-29) at UFC Fight Night on Saturday in Las Vegas.
ANALYSIS
The UFC granted Pickett another opportunity despite the fact he entered having lost four straight. They were not rewarded for their decision. Jamie won Round 1 on the strength of a knockdown late in the frame, but he was unable to defend the takedowns of Anders throughout the course of the bout, making it nearly impossible to win a decision. Pickett closed with just 26 total strikes landed over the course of the 15-minute bout. Pickett seemed to disclose to the broadcast that he would be retiring after this fight prior to making the walk, and assuming this is indeed the end, Pickett will finish with an unremarkable 2-7 record in nine UFC fights, in addition to being a two-fight loser on Dana White's Contender Series.

Receives another chance
MiddleweightUFC
December 1, 2023
Pickett agreed to fight Eryk Anders in a middleweight bout at UFC Saudi Arabia on March 2, Marcel Dorff of Eurosport.nl reports.
ANALYSIS
Pickett is coming off a unanimous decision loss to Josh Fremd in August and has lost four consecutive fights, so it's a bit surprising he's receiving another opportunity. Anders is also in the midst of a tough stretch with three defeats in his past four bouts.
Losing streak hits four
MiddleweightUFC
August 12, 2023
Pickett lost to Josh Fremd via unanimous decision (27-30, 27-30, 27-30) at UFC on ESPN 51 on Saturday in Las Vegas.
ANALYSIS
It's an admittedly extremely low bar, but this was Pickett's best performance in quite a while, and it came against an opponent that missed weight by three pounds Friday morning. Perhaps unsure he would get another opportunity with the company, Pickett took a chunk of Fremd's fight purse and went ahead with the bout. He landed a pair of takedowns and racked up some control time, but was unable to keep Fremd pinned to the mat long enough to do any real damage. A loser of four in a row including three via stoppage, Pickett's time with the UFC has likely come to a close.
Opponent comes in heavy
MiddleweightUFC
August 11, 2023
Pickett's opponent Josh Fremd weighed in three pounds over the middleweight limit ahead of Saturday's matchup at UFC Vegas 78, MMAJunkie.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Pickett already had his work cut out for him as a (+270) underdog in this matchup, but now will need to decide if he wants to step in the cage against a heavy opponent. Pickett may feel compelled to take the bout, as he has been finished in each of his last three contests. "The Night Wolf" will receive a portion of Fremd's purse if this fight continues as scheduled.
Taking on Fremd
MiddleweightUFC
June 9, 2023
Pickett will Josh Fremd in a middleweight fight at a UFC event on August 12, Marcel Dorff of Eurosport.nl reports.
ANALYSIS
Pickett's next chance to get back into the win column comes at the hands of Josh Fremd. The two fighters share a similar fighting style, though Pickett will look to keep the fight upright. Pickett stands two inches shorter than Fremd, though Pickett sports a four-inch reach advantage. After losing each of his last three fights, Pickett will need to be accurate in his striking to defeat Fremd.
Predictably crushed by Bo Nickal
MiddleweightUFC
March 4, 2023
Pickett lost to Bo Nickal via submission (arm-triangle) at 2:54 of Round 1 at UFC 285 on Saturday in Las Vegas.
ANALYSIS
Thrown to the wolves and going up against arguably the best prospect this sport has ever seen, Pickett never had a chance. He was predictably taken down just moments into the fight. Jamie actually defended pretty well on the mat for well over two minutes before the inevitable tap came. Obviously no one is going to blame Pickett for a loss here, but his back-to-back stoppage defeats against Denis Tiuliulin and Kyle Daukaus in his two prior bouts are a different story entirely. It will be interesting to see if the UFC grants Pickett another opportunity. It would appear to be far from a guarantee.
