Displays heart in epic defeat
LightweightUFC
July 13, 2024
Dober lost to Jean Silva via TKO (doctor stoppage) at 1:28 of Round 3 at UFC Fight Night on Saturday in Denver.
ANALYSIS
It's the rare fight in which everyone walks out a winner. Dober has been training in Colorado forever and entered with the crowd firmly behind him. He put forth a very competent showing, matching Silva blow-for-blow and frequently getting the better of him at times. Unfortunately for Drew, he developed one of the nastiest cuts you will ever see above his right eyebrow. Referee Herb Dean and the doctor checked it at the end of Round 2 and let Dober continue, but after eating some huge blows early in Round 3, were finally forced to pull the plug. Dober is the ultimate warrior and still has plenty of gas left in the tank at age 35, but with back-to-back defeats on his resume, he needs to get back in the win column sooner rather than later. On the bright side, he'll walk away with an extra $50,000 after this back-and-forth war was awarded Fight of the Night honors.

Can't defend takedown in loss
LightweightUFC
February 3, 2024
Dober lost to Renato Moicano via unanimous decision (28-29, 28-29, 28-29) at UFC Fight Night on Saturday in Las Vegas.
ANALYSIS
It's really difficult to win a 15-minute decision when you give up at least three minutes worth of control time to your opponent in all three rounds. It's no secret that Dober's striking is far better than his grappling. He certainly wasn't overwhelmed by Moicano on the ground, but the 10:33 worth of control time ensured Dober simply wasn't able to get off the volume needed on the feet to earn the win. Drew turned 35 years of age this past October. He keeps himself in excellent shape and can hang with any lightweight on the roster in a kickboxing match, but there are clear limits to his secondary offensive skills, and that has resulted in inconsistent results. Dober has alternated wins and losses in his past four fights dating back to December 2022.
Booked against Moicano
LightweightUFC
December 9, 2023
Dober will fight Renato Moicano at UFC Vegas 85 of Feb. 3, Marcel Dorff of Eurosport.nl reports.
ANALYSIS
Momentum will be on Dober's side entering this fight after winning four of his last five fights dating back to 2022. He made quick work of Rick Glenn in his most recent bout, and Dober will now be matched up with an opponent who is recovering from a knee injury.
