Will not re-sign with UFC
HeavyweightOther
June 30, 2024
Arlovski will not re-sign with the UFC, according to MMA reporter Ariel Helwani.
ANALYSIS
By competing against Martin Buday at UFC 303, Arlovski completed his latest contract with the promotion. Instead of re-signing with the UFC, which may have decided not to negotiate with him, he is reportedly planning on fighting elsewhere. Arlovski has the most fights (42), wins (23) and fight time (6:49:58) in the promotion's 30-plus-year history. He began his UFC career with a 6-2 run that eventually led him to becoming the promotion's heavyweight champion in 2005. After losing said honor, he maintained relevance with knockouts and decision wins, the latter including victories over former world champions Frank Mir and Fabricio Werdum.

Losing streak hits four
HeavyweightOther
June 29, 2024
Arlovski lost to Martin Buday via split decision (28-29, 29-28, 27-30) at UFC 303 on Saturday in Las Vegas.
ANALYSIS
Maybe Arlovski deserved to win, maybe he didn't, but it's doubtful anyone really cares considering how boring this fight was. Buday and the 45-year-old Arlovski spent the entire bout pinning each other up along the fence. Neither man landed anything of note in a fight which was slow paced and difficult to watch. Arlovski won six of seven from May 2020 to April 2022, but he's lost four in a row since. One would think his time with the company is certainly at an end, but it's amazing he's stuck around this long, so who really knows?
Fight moved to UFC 303
HeavyweightOther
May 12, 2024
Arlovski's heavyweight bout versus Martin Buday has been re-scheduled to UFC 303 on June 29, Marcel Dorff of Eurosport.nl reports.
ANALYSIS
Arlovski will have to wait two more weeks to fight Buday, as the two were orignally slated for the UFC Apex on June 15. The two will now be moved up to the bigger UFC 303 card, which is headlined by Conor McGregor's return to the octagon versus Michael Chandler.
Another fight on tap
HeavyweightOther
April 8, 2024
Arlovski is scheduled to compete against Martin Buday in a heavyweight fight at the UFC Apex on June 15, per Nolan King of MMAJunkie.com.
ANALYSIS
This will be Arlovski's 42nd UFC fight, putting him just one shy of tying Jim Miller for most bouts in the promotion. The former heavyweight champion began his 2024 with a decision loss to Waldo Cortes-Acosta. Arlovski will look to prevent a fourth consecutive loss, which would tie his second-longest losing streak.
Drops decision in Vegas
HeavyweightOther
January 13, 2024
Arlovski lost to Waldo Cortes-Acosta via unanimous decision (28-29, 28-29, 28-29) at UFC Fight Night on Saturday in Las Vegas.
ANALYSIS
The fact Arlovski is still a member of the UFC roster when he's three weeks away from his 45th birthday is an accomplishment in itself, but time appears to have just about run out on "The Pitbull." This was his third straight defeat and a classic example of the struggles of an aging fighter. Andrei doesn't have a knockout win in nearly a decade, so his opposition can continue to push forward without fear of anything notable coming back their way. Cortes-Acosta didn't do much, but he did enough as a -700 favorite to ensure Arlovski wouldn't be pulling the upset. The UFC could simply choose to cut bait, but it would be nice to see Andrei get a retirement fight (against a low-end opponent) given all he has done for the company.
Set to face Cortes-Acosta
HeavyweightOther
September 24, 2023
Arlovski is set to face Waldo Cortes-Acosta in a heavyweight bout at UFC Vegas 83 on Jan. 13, Marcel Dorff of Eurosport.nl reports.
ANALYSIS
Arlovski lost to Don'Tale Mayes via TKO (punches) at UFC on ESPN 46 in June, and he was outmatched in that bout, so it remains to be seen if the 44-year-old future Hall of Famer has a lot left in the tank. The UFC has been extremely careful regarding the level of competition they have put Arlovski up against in recent years, a trend that will almost certainly continue.
