Alex Reyes

The Executioner

Still searching for first UFC win
LightweightUFC
August 17, 2024
Reyes lost to Tom Nolan via unanimous decision (27-30, 27-30, 28-29) at UFC 305 on Saturday in Perth, Australia.
ANALYSIS
Reyes managed to land a few notable blows of his own and last the entire 15 minutes. It might not seem like much, but given he entered as a +800 underdog and has fought just twice since September 2017, that's about all you can ask for. Reyes predictably had all sorts of issues with the power and length of the 6-foot-3 Nolan. He did connect on a pair of takedowns but was never able to inflict much damage with his positional advantage. Reyes has now fought just three times since his 2017 debut and has lost each one. His time with the company may very well be at its end.

Gets another fight after break
LightweightUFC
May 22, 2024
Reyes will take on Tom Nolan in a lightweight matchup at UFC 305 on Aug. 17, Marcel Dorff of Eurosport.nl reports
ANALYSIS
The Executioner has only fought once since 2017, and he'll get a shot to finally get a win after losing his most recent matchup to Charlie Campbell this past September. Reyes will take on a newer fighter in Nolan, though both of these fighters have plenty to prove as they take the mat in August.
Crushed in first fight in six years
LightweightUFC
September 16, 2023
Reyes lost to Charlie Campbell via TKO (punches) at 3:38 of Round 1 at Noche UFC on Saturday in Las Vegas.
ANALYSIS
Reyes made his UFC debut on this date six years ago. That was a knockout loss to Mike Perry. He has been a member of the UFC roster the entire time since, but had not been back in the Octagon until here against Campbell. It didn't go well. Set to turn 37 years of age in early October, Reyes couldn't avoid anything his opponent sent his way. Frankly, Alex was lucky to hang on as long as he did considering all the damage he absorbed. Stranger things have happened, but the odds would be clearly against Reyes receiving a third opportunity with the company.
Will take on Campbell
LightweightUFC
September 8, 2023
Reyes will now fight Charlie Campbell at Noche UFC on Sept. 16, Marcel Dorff of Eurosport.nl reports.
ANALYSIS
This is the latest of several last-minute changes for this event. Reyes was originally scheduled to fight Natan Levy before he pulled out for undisclosed reasons. Reyes' new opponent will be making his UFC debut, but Reyes will have some rust to shake off with this being his first fight since 2017.
Another fight scheduled
LightweightUFC
August 9, 2023
Reyes is scheduled to fight Alex Reyes in a lightweight bout at Noche UFC in Paradise on Sept. 16, according to Marcel Dorff of Eurosport.nl.
ANALYSIS
Because of a rare spinal infection and multiple withdrawals before and after his diagnosis, Reyes has not fought since 2017. The string of bad luck could come to an end at Noche UFC though. Reyes could log his first fight since 2017 and compete against a lightweight also trying to compete in 2023 after a bout cancellation of his own.
Withdraws from bout
LightweightUFC
February 14, 2023
Reyes (undisclosed) withdrew from his lightweight fight against Trevor Peek at UFC Vegas 70 on Feb. 25, Marcel Dorff of Eurosport.nl reports.
ANALYSIS
Reyes was poised to enter the Octagon for the first time since 2017 after he dealt with a rare spinal infection, but he's now off the Feb. 25 card for unspecified reasons. Peek will remain and take on Erick Gonzalez, who also saw his opponent (Darrius Flowers) withdraw.
