Gonzalez lost to Trevor Peek via KO (punches) at 4:59 of Round 1 at UFC Fight Night on Saturday in Las Vegas.
ANALYSIS
Fresh off back-to-back stoppage losses Jim Miller (knockout) and Terrance McKinney (submission) to begin his UFC run, Gonzalez wasn't competitive once again. He felt the power of Peek throughout the course of the brief bout and was forced to absorb some massive strikes prior to the finish due to the incompetence of referee Kerry Hatley. Gonzalez had picked up eight knockout victories prior to his arrival in the company, but it simply hasn't worked out for him with the UFC. It would seem to be a near certainty Gonzalez is not granted a fourth opportunity.

ANALYSIS

ANALYSIS
Gonzalez was last in the Octagon in early August when he was submitted by Terrance McKinney. He has now dropped his first two fights with the promotion and will hope to avoid an 0-3 start against Flowers, who will make his UFC debut.
Still searching for first UFC win

August 6, 2022
Gonzalez lost to Terrance McKinney via submission (standing rear-naked choke) at 2:17 of Round 1 at UFC on ESPN 40 on Saturday in Las Vegas.
ANALYSIS
Gonzalez came in as the largest underdog on the entire card at +600, and it's easy to see why. To be fair, McKinney is very good, and this wasn't the best matchmaking in company history. Gonzalez was totally overwhelmed by the speed of his opponent on the feet before eventually giving up his back and being choked out. Gonzalez showed nothing in his UFC debut last October, being knocked out by an opponent in Jim Miller who typically offers nothing on the feet. McKinney is on another level entirely, so this result wasn't the least bit surprising. It would be nice to see what Gonzalez has to offer against an opponent more on his level, but it's unclear if he'll get the chance.
Set for Aug. 6 bout
LightweightUFC
May 12, 2022
Gonzalez will take on Terrance McKinney on the Aug. 6 card, Nolan King of USA Today reports.
ANALYSIS
Gonzalez withdrew from UFC 272 ahead of the scheduled bout in early March but has a new contest on the books to continue his career. Gonzalez fell via KO (punch) early in the second round of his UFC debut, so he enters his second fight in the promotion still seeking his first win. McKinney is also aiming to bounce back from his first loss since joining the promotion. Gonzalez holds the upper hand in terms of both height (one inch) and reach (two inches) in this matchup.
Withdraws from UFC 272
LightweightUFC
February 25, 2022
Gonzalez (undisclosed) has withdrawn from his scheduled lightweight bout against Devonte Smith at UFC 272 on March 5, Marcel Dorff of Eurosport.nl reports.
ANALYSIS
Gonzalez struggled in his UFC debut in October as he was knocked out by Jim Miller, and he pulled out of this matchup due to "some issues with [his] mental state," according to a post on his personal Twitter account. L'udovit Klein will step in with little more than a week's notice to battle Smith.
