Limited to DH duties thus far
Becerra (shoulder) has appeared in seven games this spring as the designated hitter, going 2-for-9 with a double and an RBI.
ANALYSIS
The young outfield prospect has yet to appear in the field this spring, but it seems that his ailing shoulder is not enough to keep him from batting. It's good to see that he's able to do some baseball activities with the big league club, although a timetable for his return to the field is still unclear at this point. Becerra does have four strikeouts in those nine at-bats, so he'll likely head back to the lower minors to develop more once spring training concludes.

2017 Fantasy Outlook
Shoulder surgery ended Becerra's 2016 campaign prematurely, but he was hitting at a .312 clip at High-A prior to the injury. The 22-year-old expects to be ready for spring training. The 6-foot-3, 225-pound Becerra had just one homer in 65 games and drew just nine walks over that span, though it is difficult to gripe with that latter number considering his high batting average. Becerra stole seven bases as well, and would seem to possess double-digit potential in both home runs and stolen bases over the course of a full season. The Mets saw enough in Becerra's skill set to determine he warranted Rule 5 protection -- they added him to the 40-man roster in November. Still, Becerra needs to show more of a power stroke to profile as a regular corner outfielder at the highest level.
