Closer Watch

Yankees – David Robertson hit the DL with a groin injury Monday, but early indications are that he'll miss the minimum time. In his absence, Shawn Kelley recorded the save against Baltimore on Monday afternoon. Kelley's a nice play for saves in the short term while Robertson remains out, and in deeper leagues should remain owned thereafter as a handcuff.

Reds – Jonathan Broxton could be activated as soon as Tuesday, and when that happens, it seems he'll immediately take over the closer's role, ending the ever-so-brief reign of J.J. Hoover (though you can argue that Hoover's reign already ended when he loaded the bases and then gave up a walk-off grand slam to the Mets' Ike Davis without recording any outs). As long as he stays healthy, Broxton should deliver a month-plus worth of saves until Aroldis Chapman returns in mid-to-late May.

Recommended Pickup
Charlie Blackmon, OF, COL – Blackmon's already one of the trendier early pickups, and it's no surprise, considering what he's done in the season's first week-plus. Despite Monday's 0-for-4, he's still hitting .464 with a homer, two steals, six RBI and five runs in the early going. He's struck out just twice in 29 plate appearances. He plays half his games in Coors Field. And the Rockies just sent down Corey Dickerson, thinning their crowded outfield situation a bit. How many more reasons do you need?

Other Recent Recommendations: Chris Owings, Casey McGehee, Lucas Duda, Marcell Ozuna, Jose Valverde
