Bayern Munich v. RB Leipzig – DFB Pokal – Final

May 25, 2019

Olympiastadion Berlin, Berlin

MATCH PREVIEW

Bayern Munich and RB Leipzig are looking to end their season on a high note when they meet at the Olympiastadion Berlin on Saturday for the DFB Pokal final.

Bayern, the 2018/19 Bundesliga title winners, will be playing their 23rd cup final while looking for their record 19th title. Their last win in this competition came back in 2016 when they defeated Borussia Dortmund on penalties. However, the Bavarians are coming into this match after four consecutive victories in the competition, and head coach Niko Kovac will surely be confident his men will pull out a positive result.

On the other hand, RB Leipzig is making its first appearance in the DFB Pokal final. Their route to the final included three Bundesliga clubs (Hoffenheim, Augsburg, and Wolfsburg), and they've conceded just three goals in the competition. They do come in after losing their final Bundesliga match, though they managed a scoreless draw at home against Bayern Munich on May 11.

Nevertheless, this should be a close game, as RB Leipzig are expected to give some tough competition up front, as well as defensively, but Bayern's experience and quality should make an easy process for them to pull a victory.

There are few injury concerns for Bayern Munich, with Christian Fruchtl (elbow) and Leon Goretzka (muscle) out, while James Rodriguez (calf), Javi Martinez (calf), Manuel Neuer (calf) and Sven Ulreich (muscle)
