Losing streak hits four
Almeida lost to Sean O'Malley via KO (punches) at 3:52 of Round 3 at UFC 260 on Saturday in Las Vegas.
ANALYSIS
This was actually one of Almeida's more competent performances in recent memory. That's saying something since it resulted in his fourth-straight defeat and will almost certainly cost him his job. Almeida's toughness was on full display throughout the course of the fight, but he likely would have been stopped in Round 1 had O'Malley not assumed he had a walk-off victory following a monster knee to Almeida's face. Almeida was viewed as one of the very best prospects in the sport at one time, but it simply hasn't worked out for the Brazilian. He hasn't won a fight since November 2016 and appears likely to finish his UFC run with a .500 (5-5) record.

Matching up with O'Malley
Almeida will face Sean O'Malley in a bantamweight bout at UFC 260 on March 27, Marcel Dorff of MMADNA reports.
ANALYSIS
Almeida is coming off a loss to Jonathan Martinez via unanimous decision in October, though he was more competitive than the decision would indicate. O'Malley will be back in the Octagon for the first time since suffering his first professional defeat at the hands of Marlon Vera in August.

Drops hard scrap in return
Almeida lost to Jonathan Martinez via unanimous decision (27-30, 27-30, 27-30) at UFC Fight Night on Saturday in Abu Dhabi.
ANALYSIS
The scorecards don't quite tell the story here, as Almeida was competitive in the fight throughout, but just seemed a step behind his opponent all night, which resulted in the veteran being lit up with hard counters. The good news here is that Almeida didn't look bad after the long layoff, he was simply bested by the better man. Best of all, he took all of the hard counter shots well, as his chin was a bit of a question mark after his loss to Rob Font in 2018. Almeida falls to 22-4 in professional MMA as a result of the loss.

Fight date pushed back
Almeida will now face Jonathan Martinez in a bantamweight matchup scheduled for Oct. 17 on Fight Island, MMAFighting.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Almeida was initially set for a scrap with Alejandro Perez this weekend, but Perez had to withdraw due to a positive COVID test, leaving Almeida scrambling for a new opponent. He'll get one a week later in the form of Perez, a fighter who is 3-2 in the UFC after picking up a win against Frankie Saenz on Aug. 1. Both men stack up similarly from a physical standpoint, and technique-wise, both prefer a striking-heavy approach, which should bode well for a fan-friendly matchup.

Needs new opponent for next weekend
Almeida needs a new opponent for his scheduled fight on Oct. 10, as Alejandro Perez withdrew Friday after testing positive for COVID-19, Marcel Dorff of MMADNA reports.
ANALYSIS
With the move coming just eight days before the fight was scheduled to take place, there isn't much time left to keep Almeida on the card. There's yet to be any indication that he'll be removed, however.
