Takes decision in home country
BantamweightUFC
September 28, 2024
Lapilus defeated Vince Morales via unanimous decision (30-27, 30-27, 30-27) at UFC Fight Night on Saturday in Paris.
ANALYSIS
Getting a home game in his native France against a guy the UFC brought back just this past week, Lapilus was in full control throughout as a hefty -370 favorite. He won virtually every stand-up exchange between the two, which is why he closed with a 94-39 edge in terms of significant strikes landed. Lapilus did give up two takedowns on six attempts and appeared tired in the latter stages of the fight, but this result was never in doubt. Taylor has quietly gone 3-1 since returning to the UFC back in September 2023 after nearly eight years away.

Draws Morales in Paris
BantamweightUFC
September 24, 2024
Lapilus will take on Vince Morales in a bantamweight matchup at UFC Paris on Saturday, according to Team Iridium Sports Agency via X.
ANALYSIS
Lapilus has won three of his last four fights and sports a 5-2 record in the UFC, but if there's any criticism, it would be his lack of finishing ability, as six of those seven fights have gone to the judges. He now draws Morales, who was let go by the UFC back in 2022 after a pair of decision defeats, but has since rebounded well on the regional circuit. Lapilus will concede three inches in height to Morales, but he'll also carry a three-inch reach advantage.
Gets right back in win column
BantamweightUFC
June 8, 2024
Lapilus defeated Cody Stamann via unanimous decision (30-27, 30-27, 30-27) at UFC Fight Night on Saturday in Louisville, Kentucky.
ANALYSIS
Lapilus really struggled to defend the takedown in a unanimous decision defeat to Farid Basharat this past January, but he was much better in that area against Stamann, allowing just one successful attempt on six tries. When the two men were on the feet, Lapilus dominated. He used his length and reach edge to keep Stamann at distance, which was more than enough to win virtually all the striking exchanges between the two men. Lapilus returned to the UFC in September 2023 after seven years away from the company. He's fought three times since coming back, alternating wins and losses in those bouts.
Will face Stamann
BantamweightUFC
March 28, 2024
Lapilus will face Cody Stamann in a bantamweight bout at a UFC event on June 8, Marcel Dorff of Eurosport.nl reports.
ANALYSIS
Lapilus won up to six consecutive fights before losing in his most recent bout against Farid Basharat via unanimous decision in January this year. He owns a 4-2 mark at the UFC level.
Can't defend takedown in loss
BantamweightUFC
January 13, 2024
Lapilus lost to Farid Basharat via unanimous decision (27-30, 27-30, 27-30) at UFC Fight Night on Saturday in Las Vegas.
ANALYSIS
In what was one of the more underrated stories of 2023 MMA, Lapilus returned to the company in September in his native France and earned a unanimous decision win over Caolan Loughran in his first UFC bout since September 2016. He predictably found life much more difficult here against an undefeated prospect in Basharat. Lapilus held his own on the feet, but five successful takedowns from his opponent torpedoed any chance Taylor had of taking a decision. Lapilus is still just 31 years of age despite all his time away, so we should see him back in the Octagon in fairly short order.
Undefeated opponent next
BantamweightUFC
November 6, 2023
Lapilus will compete against Farid Basharat in a bantamweight fight at UFC Vegas 83 on Jan. 13, according to Marcel Dorff of Eurosport.nl.
ANALYSIS
Lapilus will get right up to speed with his next fight by competing against an undefeated prospect without a blemish across his 11 fights, two with the UFC. Lapilus already got his second UFC tenure off to a great start by eventually defeating Caolan Loughran in spite of multiple withdrawals before they fought.
