Draws Newson in December
Morozov is in line to take on Journey Newson in a bantamweight matchup at the UFC event scheduled for Dec. 17, Nolan King of USA Today reports.
ANALYSIS
Morozov evened his record at 2-2 with a decision victory over Raulian Paiva back in May. He'll now take on a fighter in Newson who just picked up his first UFC victory in four attempts. The striking numbers are similar, with neither man throwing a particularly high volume, while Morozov has been more successful with wrestling to date. Height, reach and age all stack up similarly for the two men.

Rebounds with strong effort
Morozov defeated Raulian Paiva via unanimous decision (29-28, 29-28, 29-28) at UFC Fight Night on Saturday in Las Vegas.
ANALYSIS
Morozov started very quickly in his most recent bout against Douglas Silva de Andrade this past February before tiring and being submitted in Round 2. In this fight, he flipped the script completely, starting slowly before picking up the pace. Morozov was in real trouble in Round 1 after eating some massive shots. He scored a takedown in Round 2, which earned him 3:51 worth of control time in the frame, before out-landing Paiva by more than a 2:1 margin (33-16) in Round 3 to take the decision. The 33-year-old needs to work on fighting a complete 15 minutes, but Morozov has more natural talent than his 2-2 career mark with the UFC would lead you to believe.

Set to fight Paiva
Morozov agreed to face Raulian Morozov at UFC's June 24 event, Marcel Dorff of Eurosport.nl reports.
ANALYSIS
Morozov lost to Douglas Silva de Andrade via submission (rear-naked choke) at UFC 271 in February, falling to 1-2 since debuting with the promotion in 2021. Paiva is also coming off a loss after losing to Sean O'Malley in December, though Paiva was victorious in his previous three bouts.

Fades following quick start
Morozov lost to Douglas Silva de Andrade via submission (rear-naked choke) at 3:34 of Round 2 at UFC 271 on Saturday in Houston.
ANALYSIS
What appeared to be a guaranteed victory for Morozov quickly turned into a crushing defeat. He dominated his opponent in Round 1, landing a takedown, finishing with a 53-28 edge in total strikes landed, in addition to a likely 10-8 edge on the judges scorecards. Yet when Round 2 began, Morozov appeared exhausted and any combinations he attempted to throw only served to make it worse. He was blitzed by a re-energized Silva de Andrade on the feet before being mercifully finished off on the mat. This is the type of fight Morozov -- who entered as a -210 favorite -- simply cannot afford to lose if he fancies himself any sort of contender at 135 pounds.

Books match with Silva de Andrade
Morozov (17-4-0) is scheduled to face Douglas Silva de Andrade (27-4-0, 1 NC) in a fight set for Feb. 12 at UFC 271, Farah Hannoun of USA Today reports.
ANALYSIS
Morozov won five consecutive fights before losing his UFC debut to Umar Nurmagomedov in January, but he bounced back with a unanimous-decision victory over Khalid Taha during his return to the Octagon in July. Silva de Andrade, meanwhile, has alternated wins and losses over his last seven bouts.
