Strong showing in debut loss
FeatherweightUFC
November 16, 2024
Romero lost to David Onama via unanimous decision (27-30, 27-30, 27-30) at UFC 309 on Saturday in New York City.
ANALYSIS
Accepting this fight about four days ago and entering as a +850 underdog, Romero looked calm and composed in his UFC debut. He nearly pulled a massive upset after scoring a Round 1 knockdown of Onama, but he wasn't able to close the show, and things went downhill from there. Romero's gas tank was predictably not up to snuff given the circumstances, but he battled hard to see the final bell despite being dominated over the last two-plus rounds. Romero was always going to get another fight with the company after "saving" this bout, but at least on this night, he proved he can hang at the highest level.

Debuting against Onama
FeatherweightUFC
November 12, 2024
Romero will fight David Onama at UFC 309 on Saturday, Marcel Dorff of Eurosport.nl reports.
ANALYSIS
Romero will be filling in on short notice for Lucas Almeida (undisclosed), who was forced to withdraw from Saturday's bout. Romero owns an 8-3-1 record as a professional fighter, but he'll be tested in his UFC debut against Onama, who has won each of his last two fights.
