First knockout loss since 2014
WelterweightUFC
June 11, 2022
Emeev lost to Jack Della Maddalena via TKO (punches) at 2:32 of Round 1 at UFC 275 on Saturday in Singapore.
ANALYSIS
It's Emeev's second straight loss and his third in his past five fights, and this one is going to hurt just as much if not more than his last one, a split decision defeat to Danny Roberts which he deserved to win. Emeev scored a takedown and appeared to have Della Maddalena in all sorts of trouble with a deep choke locked in right in the center of the Octagon, but Della Maddalena managed to survive and Emeev -- who hadn't been stopped via strikes since 2014 -- eventually got caught with a body combination along the fence which forced him to the mat and resulted in referee John Sharp stepping in. It's pretty clear that Emeev has considerably more talent than his 5-3 career mark with the UFC would lead you to believe, but his recent struggles combined with the fact he turned 35 years of age this past May leave him in a difficult spot moving forward.

Drops controversial split decision
WelterweightUFC
October 16, 2021
Emeev lost to Danny Roberts via split decision (28-29, 29-28, 28-29) at UFC Fight Night on Saturday in Las Vegas.
ANALYSIS
It's a crushing defeat for Emeev in a fight which he likely deserved to win. To make matter worse, Emeev entered as the second biggest favorite on the card at -320. Not one of the three rounds was scored unanimously by any of the three judges. Neither man was all that active on the feet, as Emeev attempted just 112 total strikes compared to 102 from Roberts (unofficially). Neither man scored a knockdown. In short, there wasn't a ton separating the two, but it's a loss the 34-year-old Emeev simply could not afford. Expect the Dagestani to do whatever is possible to get back in the Octagon ASAP following this heart breaker.
