Drops stand-up fight in Vegas
Zawada lost to Alex Morono via unanimous decision (27-30, 27-30, 27-30) at UFC Fight Night on Saturday in Las Vegas.
ANALYSIS
This fight quickly turned into the kickboxing match many expected, and it didn't go well for Zawada. To be fair, he did more than his fair share of damage. The main difference between the two was that Morono moved with a fluidity that Zawada was unable to match. Zawada appeared to be reaching for Morono every time he fired off a combination and that gave off the feeling the fight was more lopsided than it truly appeared to be. Zawada is by no means a pushover, but you are what your record says you are in this sport and Zawada's UFC record is 1-4. He may not get another opportunity.

Zawada (17-6-0) is now scheduled to face Alex Morono (19-7-0, 1 NC) in a welterweight bout at the UFC's Sept. 4 event in Las Vegas after Zawada's initial opponent, Sergey Khandozhko (undisclosed) withdrew from the fight, Marcel Dorff of MMADNA.nl reports.

The 31-year-old Zawada has only fought once since November 2019, with two cancellations proceeding his return to the Octagon earlier in 2021, when he faced Ramazan Emeev. Zawada lost that fight in a split decision, dropping his record to 1-3 since he signed with the UFC in the summer of 2018.

Zawada's start to his UFC career hasn't gone particularly smoothly, losing three of his first four fights in with the promotion. He did go the distance last time around versus Ramazan Emeev, falling via split decision in the contest. Battles as significant underdog
Zawada lost to Ramazan Emeev via split decision (28-29, 29-28, 28-29) at UFC on ABC 1 on Saturday in Abu Dhabi.
ANALYSIS
It was a perfectly competent performance from Zawada given the fact he entered as a +250 underdog. Zawada more than held his own in the striking exchanges between the two men, ultimately landing 114 total strikes compared to just 101 from Emeev. The issues came in the grappling, where Zawada allowed his opponent to connect on four successful takedowns. While he may not have emerged with the victory he came for, Zawada performed quite well considering he showed relatively little in his first three (1-2 record) bouts with the company. He deserves another shot despite Saturday's setback.
