Legendary effort in UFC debut
Moutinho lost to Sean O'Malley via TKO (punches) at 4:33 of Round 3 at UFC 264 on Saturday in Las Vegas.
ANALYSIS
The UFC has a new fan favorite. Taking this fight on short notice, Moutinho ate everything O'Malley threw at him and then some. He deserved to see the final bell, but referee Herb Dean decided to half the action with about 30 seconds left despite the fact Moutinho was continuing to push forward and nowhere near finished. Yes, it is the referee's job to protect the fighter, but Moutinho deserved the right to see the final bell given how hard he competed. No one knew anything about Moutinho coming into the night, but he's cardio looked exceptional and his chin is obviously made of granite. He deserves a $75,000 (for tonight only) Fight of the Night bonus given how hard he competed.
