Battles before dropping decision
Kish lost to Tracy Cortez via split decision (28-29, 29-28, 27-30) at UFC Fight Night on Saturday in Las Vegas.
ANALYSIS
It was one of Kish's best performances in the UFC despite the defeat. She struggled in Round 1 when Cortez pinned her to the mat for the majority of the frame, but Kish landed more consistently on the feet throughout the final ten minutes. Kish was also the fresher fighter, which shouldn't come as a surprise since Cortez missed weight by half a pound on Friday. Kish showed enough here to potentially save her job. It's going to be difficult considering she's 1-4 in her past four fights and has just a single victory dating back to December 2016, but Kish should be proud of this effort. She was far more competitive than most anyone expected.

To face heavy opponent
Kish's scheduled flyweight matchup against Tracy Cortez will proceed as planned Saturday despite Cortez missing weight by a half pound.
ANALYSIS
With Cortez weighing in at 126.5 pounds, she'll have to forfeit 20 percent of her fight purse to Kish in order for the matchup to proceed as planned. She remains a sizable betting underdog, however, checking in as roughly a (+250) underdog for the UFC Vegas 24 preliminary bout.

Taking on Tracy Cortez
Kish will face Tracy Cortez in a flyweight matchup at the UFC event scheduled for April 17, MMAJunkie.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Kish will be looking to climb out of a rough patch which has seen her lose three of her last four matches. In her most recent fight, she was submitted in the third round by Sabina Mazo. Cortez, on the other hand, has won both of her fights since joining the UFC and has won eight straight fights as a professional. Kish sits as a (+175) betting underdog with the scheduled matchup just a few weeks away.

Taps out in Vegas
Kish lost to Sabina Mazo via submission (rear-naked choke) at 3:57 of Round 3 at UFC Fight Night on Saturday in Las Vegas.
ANALYSIS
It's a crushing defeat for Kish in a fight in which she almost certainly won each of the first two rounds. Seemingly up 20-18 on the judge's scorecards heading to the final frame, Kish was smashed with a head kick and found herself tapping out just moments later. It was the first stoppage loss of Kish's professional career. Kish has just six UFC fights under her belt despite being with the company since January 2016. Her record is just .500 (3-3), and it's difficult to believe the 32-year-old North Carolina native will be making a legitimate run any time soon.

Chance to build winning streak
Kish has agreed to face Sabina Mazo in a flyweight matchup at a UFC Fight Night event scheduled for Sept. 12, Marc Raimondi of ESPN.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Kish recently came back from nearly a two-year layoff to put together an impressive performance against Lucie Pudilova, winning the striking battle 62-to-29 en route to the decision victory. She was also credited with a takedown and an advance in that matchup -- with her takedown being the first since 2016. Kish is a standup fighter by trade that will likely engage in a kickboxing matchup with Mazo, but that might be tough considering she's giving up two inches in height and six inches in reach to her opponent.
