Takes decision in Vegas opener
Knutsson defeated Julia Polastri via unanimous decision (29-28, 29-28, 29-28) at UFC Fight Night on Saturday in Las Vegas.
ANALYSIS
Making her second UFC appearance, Knutsson started and ended this fight strong. In between, she allowed the debuting Polastri to gain some momentum in Round 2. Ultimately, however, a 145-86 edge in total strikes landed was enough to earn Knutsson the decision. Josefine is a very technical striker, but she has very little power in her hands, and her grappling is a question mark. She allowed Polastri to land all three of her takedown attempts this evening. The Swede will have to display improvement in other areas if she hopes to continue her winning ways at the highest level.
