Drops decision in UFC debut
Light HeavyweightUFC
August 24, 2024
Medina lost to Zachary Reese via unanimous decision (27-30, 27-30, 27-30) at UFC Fight Night on Saturday in Las Vegas.
ANALYSIS
Medina hung around to see the final bell, which is about all you can ask for from a +600 underdog. Luis was predictably blitzed by Reese off the jump, finding himself on the short end of a 34-4 count in terms of Round 1 significant strikes landed. He steadied things a bit over the course of the final ten minutes, but four takedowns from Reese in Round 3 ensured Medina had zero chance on the scorecards. A 33-year-old who dropped a unanimous decision on Dana White's Contender Series last October, Medina seems highly unlikely to get three chances with the company, so he better find a victory his next time out.

Scheduled for UFC debut
Light HeavyweightUFC
June 18, 2024
Medina will make his UFC debut against Zachary Reese at the UFC event scheduled for August 24, Marcel Dorff of Eurosport.nl reports.
ANALYSIS
Medina bounced around the regional circuits before getting his chance on Contender Series last October, but he lost a unanimous decision to Magomed Gadzhiyasulov, who is currently on the UFC roster. He'll still end up getting a chance with the UFC, however, and will take on a fellow Contender Series alum in Reese who is 1-1 with the company, most recently defeating Julian Marquez via first-round finish in June.
