Scheduled for Perth
Burns is scheduled to compete against fellow featherweight Jack Jenkins at UFC 305 in Perth, according to Marcel Dorff of Eurosport.nl.
ANALYSIS
Without a win since 2020, Burns has what is expected to be one last opportunity to get back into winning ways. He is on a three-fight losing streak, with each of his losses coming via TKO.

Third straight knockout loss
Burns lost to Julio Arce via TKO (punches) at 2:00 of Round 2 at UFC Fight Night on Saturday in Atlantic City.
ANALYSIS
Fighting for the first time since July 2022, Burns again struggled. He simply doesn't possess the stand-up skills to compete with the best in the world, and his chin is suddenly a question mark after not being an issue earlier in his career. The lone good news for Herbert was that he picked up a portion of Arce's purse after the latter missed weight by a pound Friday morning. With three straight knockout defeats on his resume, the odds are overwhelmingly likely Burns will be handed his walking papers in the near future.

Scheduled to fight ex-bantamweight
Burns is scheduled to compete against Julio Arce in a featherweight fight at UFC Atlantic City on March 30, per Marcel Dorff of Eurosport.nl.
ANALYSIS
Burns' next opponent is making his return to featherweight by going up from bantamweight. The former is trying to redeem himself after back-to-back stoppage losses. As for Arce, he is looking to log his first win since April 2022, going 1-1 since then.

Second straight stoppage loss
Burns lost to Bill Algeo via TKO (retirement) at 1:50 of Round 2 at UFC on ABC 3 on Saturday on Long Island.
ANALYSIS
Not good. Entering as a significant +170 underdog, Burns had a real chance to win this fight on multiple occasions in Round 1 with deep submission attempts. He was never able to close the show, however, and essentially quit after that. He barely made it back to the stool at the end of Round 1 and took too long to get back to his feet after ordered to do so by referee Keith Peterson early in Round 2. It's difficult to ascertain whether Burns was simply too exhausted to continue or no longer wanted to fight. It's a terrible look regardless, and Burns' roster spot could potentially be in jeopardy after this performance considering he is 34 years old and has suffered back-to-back stoppage defeats.

New opponent for UFC Long Island
Burns will face off against Bill Algeo at the UFC event scheduled for July 16 in Long Island, MMAFighting.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Burns' original opponent Khusein Askhabov withdrew from the card for undisclosed reasons, so he'll now take on Algeo after Algeo's original opponent, Billy Quarantillo (undisclosed), also dropped out of the event. Burns hasn't fought since 2020 and is coming off a torn ACL he suffered in June of 2021, so expectations should be tempered for the 34-year-old as he makes his return to the Octagon.
