Out of fight vs. Garbrandt
Arce withdrew Monday from his scheduled bantamweight bout with Cody Garbrandt set for March 4 at UFC 285 in Las Vegas due to a knee injury suffered during training, Danny Segura of USA Today reports.
ANALYSIS
Segura notes that Arce will require surgery on his knee, but it's unclear if the 33-year-old requires an arthroscopic procedure or a full reconstruction. Whatever the case, Arce's training will likely be put on hold for at least the next month -- and likely longer -- forcing him to bow out of the matchup with Garbrandt. The UFC could still look to keep Garbrandt on the March 4 card if the promotion can secure a replacement for Arce.

Taking on Garbrandt at UFC 285
Arce (18-6-0) is scheduled to face Cody Garbrandt (12-5-0) in a bantamweight bout scheduled for March 4 at UFC 285 in Las Vegas, Mike Heck of MMAFighting.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Since making the jump from the featherweight division in 2021, Arce has gone 2-2, picking up wins over Andre Ewell and Daniel Santos while dropping fights to Yadong Song and Montel Jackson. Arce will draw a former bantamweight champion for his next fight in Garbrandt, though Garbrandt hasn't fought since 2021 and has suffered losses in five of his last six bouts.

Drops close decision on Saturday
Arce lost to Montel Jackson via unanimous decision (27-30, 27-30, 28-29) at UFC 281 on Saturday in New York.
ANALYSIS
A slick boxer, Arce was initially able to make his opponent miss, but the pressure and length of Jackson proved to be too much, punctuated by a knockdown in Round 3. Arce is a well-rounded fighter with sneaky good jiu-itsu, but the 33-year-old has alternated wins and losses since November of 2018 and is still looking to find his footing in the organization. He falls to 18-6-0 in professional MMA as a result of the loss.
