Viana up next

ANALYSIS
McKenna will look to bounce back from a dreadful performance at the UFC's March 16 event, where she lost to Jaqueline Amorim in less than 100 seconds. At the very least, McKenna has a proven resume, with four wins in five UFC fights before her Amorim bout.

Quickly taps out in Vegas
McKenna lost to Jaqueline Amorin via submission (armbar) at 1:38 of Round 1 at UFC Fight Night on Saturday in Las Vegas.
ANALYSIS
This was a truly dreadful performance from McKenna as a -155 favorite. Fighting for the first time since December 2022, Cory foolishly chose to engage Amorim -- a submission specialist -- in a ground battle and lasted all of 98 seconds as a result. It could have ended considerably earlier, but McKenna managed to hang on through a couple difficult spots before finally tapping out. Time is on McKenna's side given the fact she won't be 25 years of age until July, but she's fought just five times (3-2) since debuting in November 2020, and that type of workload isn't going to get the job done.

ANALYSIS
After sitting out all of 2023, McKenna has a fight scheduled to get back into the MMA grind for 2024. The 24-year-old's 2022 was a mixed but mostly positive bag. McKenna lost to Elise Reed but followed up the defeat with wins over Miranda Granger and Cheyanne Vlismas.

Leans on wrestling to secure win
McKenna defeated Cheyanne Vlismas via unanimous decision (29-28, 29-28, 29-28) at UFC Fight Night on Saturday in Las Vegas.
ANALYSIS
Give McKenna credit -- she fought to her strengths and implemented a game plan that allowed her to pull the upset. Significantly undersized and unable to match her opponent punch-for-punch, McKenna slowed this fight to a crawl over the course of the final ten minutes. She picked up 8:50 worth of control time in the final two rounds alone, allowing McKenna to secure a clear decision victory despite the fact she didn't land a ton of significant damage despite her positional advantage. This is the way McKenna is going to have to fight given her small frame and limited offensive arsenal. Cory has now won three of her first four UFC bouts.
