Oliveira has parted ways with the UFC following the completion of his contract, Mike Bohn of USA Today reports.
ANALYSIS
It's increasingly rare to see a UFC fighter keep his or her roster spot after four consecutive defeats, and as entertaining as Oliveira is, he won't be the exception here. Still, "Cowboy" will likely get interest in other big promotions, as he's a fighter that has always been willing to accept a short-notice bout, even across multiple weight classes. There's probably still something left in the tank at the age of 34 and with 37 pro fights under his belt, so look for Oliveira to still see some success if given more manageable competition.

Oliveira lost to Kevin Holland via TKO (punches) at 0:38 of Round 2 at UFC 272 on Saturday in Las Vegas.
ANALYSIS
A member of the UFC roster since March 2015, Oliveira could be handed his walking papers following this, his fourth-straight defeat. The crazy thing is that Alex looked absolutely brilliant prior to the stoppage. He controlled the pace in Round 1, scored a couple takedowns, and did an excellent job of keeping the much bigger Holland at range. That all ended in the opening seconds of Round 2 when he ate a right hand and countless follow-up shots which forced referee Chris Tognoni to step in. The Brazilian fights often and has the ability to compete in multiple weight classes, a major asset to a company which holds an event most every week, but you are what your record says you are in this sport. In this case, "Cowboy" has just two wins in his last nine fights dating back to December 2018.
Welcoming Holland to welterweight

January 10, 2022
Oliveira will take on Kevin Holland in Las Vegas on March 5, MMAJunkie.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Oliveira hasn't had much luck recently, losing three straight fights and six of his last eight. He'll be the first fighter Holland faces in the welterweight division after he elected to drop down following a three-fight winless streak.
Suffers third straight defeat
WelterweightOther
October 2, 2021
Oliveira lost to Niko Price via unanimous decision (28-29, 28-29, 28-29) at UFC Fight Night on Saturday in Las Vegas.
ANALYSIS
It's Oliveira's third straight defeat and could conceivably end his time with a company that rarely hangs on to aging, higher-priced talent. The Brazilian saw the final bell here and performed reasonably well, which is an improvement considering he suffered first-round submission wins in each off his prior two bouts. Oliveira is traditionally difficult to get out of there and this was no exception. He regained momentum following a slow start, but Price began to pull away again in Round 3. Oliveira actually landed 65 significant strikes compared to 64 from Price, but the latter was the more active of the two. Oliveira figures to get a longer leash than most due to the fact he can compete in multiple weight classes and fights frequently. He still has plenty of value to the UFC at age 33, but it remains to be seen if the company feels the same way.

Oliveira will take on Niko Price in a welterweight bout at the UFC event Oct. 2, MMAJunkie.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Oliveira will look to bounce back from a submission loss to Randy Brown back in April. That pushed his career MMA record to 11-8-1. Price is also coming off two consecutive losses as well, most recently in July against Michael Pereira.
Destroyed by Randy Brown
WelterweightOther
April 24, 2021
Oliveira lost to Randy Brown via submission (rear-naked choke) at 2:50 of Round 1 at UFC 261 on Saturday in Jacksonville.
ANALYSIS
Oliveira is just 33 years of age, but he's fought a ton over the years, and it's fair to wonder if his body is starting to break down on him after all those bouts. He's long been known for his exceptional durability, but the Brazilian ate countless power shots from Brown, including one that directly led to the sequence that ended the fight. Oliveira is willing to fight any one at any time, and there's clear value in that for a company which holds an event almost every week. He is now 2-5 in his past seven bouts dating back to December 2018 and is clearly trending in the wrong direction. Something will have to give for Oliveira shortly.
