2024 Fantasy Outlook
Benson fell to the third round of the 2024 NFL Draft in part because of durability concerns related to a brutal multi-ligament knee tear at Oregon at the end of the 2020 season. He came back strong at Florida State in 2022 and 2023 to play 26 consecutive games and score 24 touchdowns, though his upright running style invites big hits at times. Beyond those concerns, Benson is close to blue-chip across most considerations. Few runners combine home run speed with standout raw power, but Benson showed both traits at FSU and then confirmed it at the Combine with a 4.39 40 at 6-0, 216. He was immensely explosive as a mid-volume, high-efficiency runner for the Seminoles, averaging 6.1 yards on 316 carries across two seasons, so he could make an impact in Arizona coming out of the bullpen behind James Conner. Conner had one of his best seasons in 2023 and won't be pushed aside easily, but his extensive injury history gives reason to project a start or two for Benson in an improving Arizona offense. ANALYSIS
Benson will end up missing the final three games of his rookie season due to the ankle injury he sustained in a Dec. 15 win over the Patriots. Before getting hurt, the third-round pick out of Florida State had solidified his spot as the top backup to James Conner. Over 13 appearances, Benson gained 291 yards and a touchdown on 63 carries (4.6 average) while reeling in all six of his targets for 59 yards.

Could take over for injured Conner
RBArizona Cardinals
December 22, 2024
Benson could see a big role in Week 17 against the Rams if he recovers from an ankle injury, as James Conner suffered a knee injury during Sunday's 36-30 loss to Carolina, per Darren Urban of the Cardinals' official site.
ANALYSIS
Benson was inactive against the Panthers due to an ankle injury he suffered in Week 15 against the Patriots, but if the rookie returns, the Cardinals could try to get an extended look at the rookie with Arizona having been knocked out of playoff contention. After Conner's injury against the Panthers, DeeJay Dallas and Michael Carter both saw action in Arizona's backfield.
