Jason Brownlee

25-Year-Old Wide ReceiverWR
 Free Agent
2024 Fantasy Outlook
Brownlee got an audition in a larger role as an undrafted free agent rookie down the stretch in 2023. He played over 80 percent of the Jets' offensive snaps in four of the team's final seven games but finished with only five catches for 56 yards and one touchdown in seven appearances. The 25-year-old wide receiver finds himself on the roster bubble heading into 2024 after the Jets signed Mike Williams and drafted Malachi Corley in the third round. Even if Brownlee makes the team, it would likely take multiple injuries ahead of him to carve out a prominent role. Read Past Outlooks

The Jets signed Brownlee to their practice squad Friday, Ethan Greenberg of the team's official site reports.
ANALYSIS
Brownlee was let go from the Jets' 53-man roster Wednesday after tight end Brenden Bates was claimed off waivers. Brownlee began 2023 on the Jets' practice squad and played in seven regular-season games, finishing his rookie campaign with five catches (on eight targets) for 56 yards and one touchdown. Mike Williams (knee) and Irvin Charles (hip) are both dealing with injuries, and if either of them cannot suit up for the Jets' season opener against the 49ers on Sept. 9, Brownlee would be a prime candidate to be elevated to the active roster.

2023 Fantasy Outlook
Brownlee's arguably the most intriguing wide receiver that went undrafted in the 2023 class. Multiple teams displayed interest in the 6-foot-2 receiver from Southern Miss after the draft, and the Jets ultimately gave Brownlee $246,000 to sign, which was the largest sum given to any 2023 UDFA and similar to the typical money for a fifth-round pick. Brownlee reportedly impressed in both OTAs and training camp, and with the Jets having dealt away WR Denzel Mims in July, Brownlee has an opportunity to secure a spot on the 53-man roster. At worst, he'll spend his rookie season on the practice squad.

Among Rosenblatt's final cuts
WRNew York Jets
August 25, 2024
Zack Rosenblatt of The Athletic has Brownlee narrowly missing out on a roster spot with the Jets in 2024.
ANALYSIS
Brownlee had some highlight catches in training camp but also struggled with drops at times, which could ultimately cost the 25-year-old wide receiver a spot on the 53-man roster in 2024 after he appeared in seven games with the Jets in 2023. Garrett Wilson, Mike Williams, who is recovering from a knee injury, Allen Lazard, Xavier Gipson and rookie third-round draft pick Malachi Corley look like roster locks. If the Jets keep only six wide receivers, Irvin Charles is the favorite to snag the final spot over Brownlee due to Charles' contributions as a gunner on special teams.
