ANALYSIS
Addae landed on the COVID list Monday but was able to quickly clear the health and safety protocols. Addae is an established safety who may not land a starting spot with Houston but could be a regular in sub-packages on passing downs. He's an active tackler that could play close to the line of scrimmage in passing situations.
Addae always produced tackles at a high pace, but injuries consistently undid him in his first four NFL seasons. He finally stayed healthy last year, and barely missed the triple-digit tackle mark in doing so. He doesn't really do anything else and the injury concerns remain, but the deal with Addae is he's a lock for cheap tackles so long as his durability luck persists. Derwin James figures to man the other safety spot, but Addae may need to hold off fourth-round pick Kyzir White.
Addae earned a big four-year contract extension in the offseason, but while the Chargers clearly trust in the hard-hitting safety, IDP owners may want to stay away. For one, Addae's head-hunter nature has landed him on the injury report far too often, causing him to miss 16 of the last 48 games. What's more, Addae has only recorded one interception in his four-year career. While the 27-year-old's propensity for big hits certainly might be an attractive option for IDP owners, his inconsistency and lack of durability likely make him a starting option only in deeper leagues.
Addae looked like a breakout candidate last year, but injury troubles made it difficult to test the hypothesis. He dealt with an ankle injury for more than a month, finishing with 65 tackles and one sack on 713 snaps. The initial appeal with Addae was his tackle rates from the two years prior, a span in which he totaled 86 while playing just 542 snaps. That impossibly high tackle rate wasn't the expectation for 2015 – it was clearly unsustainable – but it still feels like Addae should have done much more. He'll get another chance to make his case this year now that Weddle is gone.
Addae is a relative unknown, but he could become a top IDP option this season. Despite playing just 431 snaps last year, Addae raced to 48 tackles, which projects to 111 tackles over 1,000 snaps. Addae should reach that play count this season, as former starting safety Marcus Gilchrist left for the Jets in free agency, opening the door for Addae to earn a starting role. If he indeed starts, Addae should push for triple-digit tackles.
Addae was forced into spot duty in 2013, but provides nothing more than depth at free safety.

Addae (knee) will work out for the Vikings, Ian Rapoport of NFL Network reports.
ANALYSIS
It appears Addae may be past the knee injury he finished his 2019 season in Houston with, but we'll have to see how he responds to the workout first. If he were to land a gig with the Vikings, Addae would likely be the No. 3 safety behind Anthony Harris and Harrison Smith. Addae finished the 2019 season with 45 tackles and two interceptions through 16 games.
