Let go from practice squad
QBFree Agent
September 30, 2020
The Colts cut Kelly from the practice squad Wednesday, Joel A. Erickson of the Indianapolis Star reports.
ANALYSIS
Kelly was cut from the practice squad to make room for Marian University product Krishawn Hogan. The presence of rookie fourth-round pick Jacob Eason likely played a role in Indianapolis deciding to part ways with Kelly.

Past Fantasy Outlooks
2018
2017
He might have been 2017's Mr. Irrelevant, but with a huge arm, collection of signature wins at Ole Miss, and pedigree -- Kelly looms behind 2016 first-round pick Paxton Lynch in the battle to back up Case Keenum. Depending on who you listen to, Lynch has either led Kelly through the offseason or has left the door open for Kelly to steal the No. 2. job. No matter what, a lot will have to go wrong for Kelly to take a meaningful snap in 2018.
The final pick of the NFL Draft seldom garners as much hubbub as did Denver's selection of Kelly, the former Ole Miss quarterback, at the end of the 2017 draft. The nephew of Hall-of-Famer Jim Kelly, the younger Kelly likely would have been drafted earlier had he not been recovering from knee and wrist surgeries. His career has also been checkered with several off-field issues, including getting kicked out of Clemson. On the field, Kelly has a wiley ability to make something out of nothing and has the big arm Denver covets. He's been especially adept at pushing the ball deep, his 8.8 yards per attempt ranking 14th in the nation in 2015 and his 8.4 yards per attempt ranking 21st in 2016. That big-play hunting also led to numerous turnover-worthy throws that broke in Kelly's favor, but he might not be so lucky in the pros. His need for refinement, injury history, and the presence of two young quarterbacks atop the depth chart all make it unlikely that Kelly will see the field in 2017. Denver has made a habit of looking for development quarterbacks at the end of the seventh round under John Elway, however, including Zac Dysert and last year's starter Trevor Siemian. Kelly could ascend if Siemian and last year's first-rounder Paxton Lynch falter.

Latest Fantasy Rumors
To try out for Packers
QBFree Agent
May 10, 2021
Green Bay will bring Kelly in for a tryout during the team's rookie minicamp, Tom Pelissero of NFL Network reports.
ANALYSIS
Kelly only has one NFL appearance under his belt from his time with the Lions back in 2018, but he's since spent time on Indianapolis' practice squad. Kurt Benkert also will be brought in for a tryout. Any quarterback visiting the Packers is intriguing due to the ambiguity surrounding Aaron Rodgers' situation, but Kelly's visit probably has more to do with the fact that the team currently lacks a No. 3 option behind Jordan Love.
