2024 Fantasy Outlook
The hiring of Brian Flores proved to be key to a number of breakout players on the defensive side of the ball for Minnesota, and Bynum was among them. Playing a significant number of snaps was nothing new for him - he topped 1,000 defensive snaps for the second straight season - but his deployment changed significantly. Bynum played as a traditional free safety in 2022, but he was utilized all around the field last season by seeing a significant number of snaps both inside the box and as a slot corner in addition to his traditional usage. He rewarded the team with a much-improved performance in coverage, while also showcasing additional playmaking ability with three forced fumbles. Bynum had a breakout season in 2022 as he took over the starting free safety role. The 2021 fourth-round pick saw the majority of his playing time on special teams in the previous season, but he opened the 2022 campaign in an every-down role alongside veteran strong safety Harrison Smith. The 24-year-old Bynum maintained this role throughout the entirety of the campaign after rookie first-round pick Lewis Cine went down with a season-ending fractured leg Week 4. He'll look to keep his starting role in training camp.
