Rest-of-Season Projections
2024 Fantasy Outlook
In his first season in New Orleans, Carr finished with similar numbers to his last season in Las Vegas. How he got there was a little different, though. He was barely usable most of the fantasy season, averaging 11.8 fantasy points in his first 13 games. But he came alive in the last four games, throwing 12 of his 25 TD passes Weeks 15-18 to average 22.0 fantasy points. The Saints offense also changed his approach a bit. It wasn't all dink-and-dunk, but 66.4 percent of his attempts went less than 10 yards, up from 59.1 percent the season prior. That rebounded his completion percentage to 68.4 after the previous season's career low, but his YPA only ticked up from 7.0 to 7.1 as his average target depth tumbled from 9.1 to 7.8. That's what happens when you lean on RB Alvin Kamara (75 catches in 13 games) because the WRs and TEs can't get separation (2.8 yards, 27th). The Saints cut oft-injured WR Michael Thomas this offseason but didn't do much to upgrade the wideouts, signing the unimpressive Cedrick Wilson and Equanimeous St. Brown. Chris Olave is the only consistent weapon for Carr, though No. 2 Rashid Shaheed is useful as a deep target and could perhaps expand his arsenal this year. New offensive coordinator Klint Kubiak should be an upgrade, but it might not make much of a difference for fantasy given Carr's mediocre supporting cast and total lack of rushing statistics. Unlikely to return this season
Carr (concussion) underwent further examination of his fractured left hand and is considered a few weeks away from being cleared to take contact, making it unlikely that he'll play again this season, Ian Rapoport of NFL Network reports.
ANALYSIS
Carr has two different fractures in his non-throwing hand, in addition to the concussion that sidelined him for this past Sunday's 20-19 loss to the Commanders. While not yet eliminated from playoff contention, the 5-9 Saints are long shots to clinch a postseason bid and thus have little incentive to rush Carr back onto the field. Jake Haener stepped in as the starting quarterback in Week 15, but he completed just four of 10 pass attempts for 49 yards and an interception before being benched in the second half in favor of Spencer Rattler. Rattler led the Saints to four scoring drives in the final two quarters to nearly complete a comeback from a 17-0 deficit, so he could be in the driver's seat to replace Carr as the starter in New Orleans' Week 16 matchup with Green Bay on Monday.

Pick a metric from last year and chances are it was Carr’s worst since his rookie season. And that’s saying something considering he had one of the league’s best wide receivers in Davante Adams. Carr’s on-target percentage was 67.9 -- only Baker Mayfield and Zach Wilson were lower among qualified QBs. Carr looked deep plenty (71 targets beyond 20 yards, 5th), but he couldn’t connect on many of those throws, ranking 25th in completion percentage (32.4). He was benched the final two games and then released shortly after the season. In March, he signed a four-year $150 million deal with New Orleans, where he'll have two reliable weapons in WR Chris Olave and RB Alvin Kamara. A healthy season out of Michael Thomas, who played 10 games the past three years, would go a long way, as the Saints otherwise will need sustained contributions from 2022 UDFA Rashid Shaheed (377 receiving yards in Weeks 13-18) or undersized tight end Juwan Johnson (seven TDs in a seven-game stretch). Carr should have value in two-QB leagues, but he's got a tough path to value in single-QB formats as a sub-elite passer who doesn't have dominant weapons and provides next to nothing on the ground (845 yards, six TDs in nine seasons).

Latest Fantasy Rumors
Contract guarantee an issue
Carr is unlikely to play again this season due to a hand injury, making injury guarantees in his contract for 2025 a potential issue this offseason, John Sigler of Saints Wire reports.
ANALYSIS
Carr has until March 17 to pass a physical, or else $30 million of his 2025 salary will become guaranteed. It appears unlikely that the injury will linger for that period of time, however. Even setting aside the potential contract issue, Carr's future in New Orleans is murky given that the team is likely to have a new coaching staff next season.
