DFS College Basketball: Wednesday Preview

DFS College Basketball: Wednesday Preview

This article is part of our DFS College Basketball series.

The college basketball season sure seems like it's gone by quickly, as the last Wednesday slate of the regular season is upon us. A showdown between Creighton and Villanova highlights the action, with DraftKings featuring a nine-game slate ahead of its $15 Pull Up Jumper and a $2,000 top prize. Meanwhile, FanDuel has six games and a $1,000 top payout for the $5.55 All American contest. Let's take a look at the totals before jumping into the games.

Targets

Eugene Omoruyi, F, Oregon ($7,800 DK, $6,900 FD)

Omoruyi has been carrying the load for the Ducks' offense this season, and he's certainly capable of putting up another one of his 40+ fantasy outputs against a UCLA squad that has struggled defensively. Despite their slow pace, the Bruins have allowed 70+ in two of their last three games. Omoruyi has stepped up his play recently with a double-double and back-to-back 20+ point scoring nights over his last three games. He's averaging an impressive .99 fantasy points per minute this season and should see around 35 minutes.

Johnny Juzang, G, UCLA ($6,600 DK, $6,400 FD)

Juzang is pretty much a must-play at this salary, coming in $1,500 cheaper than two games ago despite putting up consecutive 32+ point fantasy outputs. After a bit of a slow start to the season after transferring from Kentucky, Juzang has scored 25+ points in three of his last six games. He'll get a matchup tonight against an Oregon team that is much better on the offensive end as well. The only downside is that he'll likely have high ownership.

Brandon Johnson, F, Minnesota ($5,200 DK, $4,900 FD)

Johnson is a good value option on the slate, coming in with his lowest salary this year and $2,100 less than he was in mid-February. Playing bigs against Penn State has been a reliable play this season, as the Nittany Lions play a small lineup that has allowed opponents to shoot a whopping 55 percent from two-point range. Johnson is an efficient scorer and effective rebounder, and he has lived up to tonight's salary in eight of his last 10 games.

Fades

Jeremiah Robinson-Earl, F, Villanova ($8,500 DK, $7,200 FD)

Robinson-Earl comes in with a heftier price tag on DraftKings, and his usage rate is lower than the other top salary options, making it difficult to pay up for him when building your lineups. Although Creighton isn't known as a defensive juggernaut, they have held opponents to just 45 percent shooting from inside the arc -- where Robinson-Earl does most of his damage. He also struggled in their first meeting last month, only scoring eight points on 3-of-13 shooting.

Donta Scott, F, Maryland ($7,000 DK, $6,300 FD)

At first glance, a matchup against 7-14 Northwestern looks great, but the struggles for the Wildcats have been on the offensive end. With three Maryland players priced $7,000 or higher someone has to disappoint, and Scott sees the fewest minutes and least involvement of the trio. Scott has a limited ceiling, having only outperformed this salary once in his last eight games. If you want to roster someone from this game I'd rather spend a little more money on Aaron Wiggins ($7,600 DK, $6,600 FD), knowing a 40-point fantasy night is within reach.

Drew Peterson, G/F, USC ($6,200 DK, $4,900 FD)

Peterson has played well recently, but the improved play comes with an uptick in price from $4,500 two games ago. He was able to take advantage of a couple of weaker defensive teams in Oregon and Utah during that stretch, but he'll have a tougher test tonight against a Stanford team that ranks third in the Pac-12 in defensive efficiency. In this price range I'd rather pivot to Tahj Eaddy ($5,900 DK, $5,100 FD) with a better matchup on the perimeter against the Stanford guards.
