I bid on both Downs and Thornton, who had been dropped the previous week. However, my bids were "keep them honest" bids of $75 (second place on Thornton) - I'm first in my league in saves and just got a second save from Kenley Jansen on Sunday, giving me two-and-a-half closers, plus Jon Rauch still on my bench. Yeah, Rauch got blown up Sunday, but Frank Francisco blew a save later on and has been pretty awful lately. Better to hang onto him than blow my budget on closers. I'm light on wins and stolen bases - so I mostly focused on SP and SB threats, hence the addition of Izturis. I'm going to be that "brave soul" that will have Philip Hughes active for his two starts this week.

I was in on Downs, a little higher at 103, which obviously wasn't even close. Once again, though, I have three closers, though one of them is the suddenly precarious Grant Balfour (Brandon League and Jason Motte are the other two). Clearly I overbid on Jerome Williams, but I like his two home starts this week. The Angels can't stay this bad, and I especially like them at home. Guzman is a little insurance in case of another 1B/OF injury. I have Bryce Harper going active for me this week, and I might have a tough decision on whether to start Shin-Soo Choo, though the mid-week activation rule with hitters mitigates the risk some.

"Birraioli" is the run-away leader in this league - he took a couple of interest fliers this week, having the luxury of no immediate holes to fill.
