Colt McCoy- struggling early in camp. McCoy thru a pair of interceptions in Tuesday's practice and has been struggling early in training camp. Despite these struggles, McCoy has taken the reins of this team and has been praised for his leadership skills. It will be interesting to see how he progresses in the team's new West Coast system, but it is pretty clear it will not be a seamless transition although it will probably help when he has more healthy receivers on hand.
Kenny Britt- still out. Britt (hamstring) won't be able to practice until next week. As long as Britt is on the field when the regular season starts, which is a big if given his off-season legal troubles, it's tough to count out the rare talent. Still, missing too much training camp is never a good thing.
Ryan Mathews- back at practice. Mathews returned to practice Tuesday after missing a couple days with a toe injury. It's still early in camp, but Mathews has already dealt with a toe issue, a sore wrist, and some questions regarding his conditioning. Big things are expected from Mathews this season, so hopefully his health does not become a bigger problem again like it was in his rookie campaign.
Andre Johnson- off a few days. Johnson (finger) will get "a couple days" off from practice. As long as the minor finger injury heals, this will in no way affect Johnson's regular season performances although you have to wonder after his nagging ankle injury in 2010, if he is starting to break down a little.
Zach Miller- signs with Seattle. Miller signed a contract with Seattle on Tuesday for $34 million over five years. Miller is a very good player, but his fantasy value likely lessens in Seattle, where he'll need to fight Sidney Rice and Mike Williams for targets. Also, it's an odd signing given that John Carlson remains one of the league's most talented young tight ends and may see a drop in production himself.
Ronnie Brown- signs with Eagles. Brown signed a one-year contract with Philadelphia on Tuesday. Brown is certainly no threat to LeSean McCoy, but this is still a nice signing for the Eagles. As the lone running back on the roster with even a slight hint of power running ability, however, it wouldn't be surprising if Brown got more work inside the 20-yard line than out of it. Brown's arrival might limit the possibility of McCoy hitting double-digit touchdowns on the ground.
Arrelious Benn- still out for a while. Benn (knee) will have to wait a "couple weeks" before he can participate in contact drills. Benn, who is coming off surgery to repair a torn ACL he suffered at the end of his rookie 2010 season, is still expected to be ready for the start of the season at this point. That being said, monitor his situation closely, for even if he can make it back for the start of the season, he might start off the 2011 season slowly, which would hurt his fantasy value and further boost the values of No.1 WR Mike Williams and TE Kellen Winslow.
John Beck- off to a poor start in camp. Beck has not looked good in training camp as of Tuesday. This is not surprising, as Beck has basically looked bad ever since he left BYU. Apparently his throws have been behind receivers, his deep passes wobble and he has trouble with the blitz. Coach Mike Shanahan is reportedly a fan of Beck, but at the moment it's probably tough to see him starting ahead of the re-signed Rex Grossman.
Rex Grossman- back with the Redskins. Grossman agreed to a contract with the Redskins on Tuesday. Numerous reports have indicated to this point that John Beck is coach Mike Shanahan's preferred starter in Washington, but Grossman won't go down without a fight and may over take Beck once he gets on the field.
Hines Ward – will be able to practice soon. Ward (thumb surgery) expects to come off the active/PUP list and begin practicing Thursday or Friday. This is very good news for the Steelers, who are without Emmanuel Sanders for three weeks. The Sanders injury could help the seemingly ageless Ward regain early-season WR3 fantasy value.
