Williams was a huge bust for the Bills as a top five pick. Some might be encouraged by the reported fact that Williams lost over 50 pounds since April, but not only is that a dangerous amount of weight to lose so fast, it also means his strength will be badly compromised. The fact that he was over 400 pounds while marketing himself as having a new dedication to the game is actually a bit pitiful. If Washington is depending on Williams at tackle this year, Clinton Portis' numbers will likely go down.
After ups and downs early in his career, Williams is finally starting to thrive now that line guru Jim McNally has his attention. Williams will start at right tackle, where he's primed to become a top 10 at that position. Willis McGahee will be doing plenty of running behind Williams and Chris Villarrial, as Buffalo's left side of the line is far more unproven.
Williams is Buffalo's lineman of the future, a big athletic tackle who was supposed to be the cream of the trenchmen crop from the 2002 draft. Williams has had ups and downs in his first two seasons, however, but should start to hit his stride in 2004. He's a very good run blocking back, and his biggest improvment will hopefully come in keeping Drew Bledsoe on his feet.
