-Julius Jones was released by the Seahawks. He shouldn't have been anywhere on your radar for this season, even if catches on with another team. I can't help but wonder if his alma mater played any role with Pete Carroll's decision.
-Coach Mike Shanahan fully expects Donovan McNabb to be ready to go next Sunday. McNabb has been sliding in drafts as a result of his injury and should be viewed as a high #2 QB option in most leagues.
-T.J. Houshmandzadeh will not sign with the Vikings, according to Brad Childress. He's going to land somewhere and could carve out a nice role as a #2 WR for a team in need of help. The Redskins and Raiders are two possible destinations, Washington being the team that would give Housh the most value.
-Vincent Jackson's roster exempt status kicked in on Saturday meaning the wide receiver will now sit a total of six games to start the season, even if he's traded. In fantasy terms, that's almost half the season sans playoffs.
-Chase Coffman was released by the Bengals making rookie Jermaine Gresham an even more interesting sleeper pick. While the Bengals remain a run-first team, play-action near the goal line could amount to a fair amount of TDs this year.
-Both Chad Simpson and Joique Bell were released by the Bills. Reading between the lines here: Marshawn Lynch and Fred Jackson aren't too badly banged up. The releases leave the Bills with only those two plus C.J. Spiller as the only running backs on the team.
-Besides likely taking over as the team's #1 WR, Percy Harvin will also be handling kickoff duties. I'd be shocked if he didn't take a couple all the way so give the Minnesota D/ST a small bump in the rankings.
