ANALYSIS
Bell joins Theo Riddick (wrist) among the Lions' DNPs in Week 16, leaving the backfield in the hands of Dwayne Washington and Zach Zenner. As the regular season draws to a close, Bell will likely require an injury to one of Washington or Zenner in order to get any run in his second stint with the Lions.

A late bloomer out of D-II Wayne State, Bell earned a leading role in the Detroit backfield in 2013 and 2014. He isn't fast or elusive and owns a rather ordinary 4.0 YPC for his career, but at his best, Bell was a surprisingly versatile back with a very useful combination of size (5-11, 220), blocking ability and receiving skills. He quietly put up 1,100+ scrimmage yards and eight TDs in both 2013 and 2014, but also took a major beating in the process and needed multiple surgeries ahead of 2015. Though he did end up playing 13 games, Bell mostly just served as the power/short-yard-age back in a very pass-reliant offense. He didn't help matters by averaging just 3.5 yards per carry, which may explain why he remains unsigned at press time as he prepares to turn 30 in August.
