Acy agreed Saturday with the G League's Texas Legends on a buyout of his contract, Adam Johnson of 2Ways10Days.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Acy had rejoined the Legends after his 10-day contract with the Suns expired in late January. There haven't been any reports suggesting Acy is in line to sign with another NBA team, so he'll presumably sit out the remainder of the season or pursue opportunities overseas.

Acy opened up the 2016-17 campaign with the Mavericks, but barely saw the floor and was eventually waived in mid-November after just six games. He remained without a team until early January, when the Nets opted to bring him in on a pair of 10-day contracts, before inking him to a deal for the rest of the season. In 32 games with the Nets, Acy was still stuck in a relatively minor role off the bench, finishing with averages of 6.5 points and 3.3 rebounds across 15.9 minutes. While he's back with the Nets for his first full season in Brooklyn, Acy is going to have a tough time finding significant playing time yet again. He spent the majority of his minutes at power forward, but with both Rondae Hollis-Jefferson and Trevor Booker still around, that leaves him third at best on the depth chart. The Nets also drafted center Jarrett Allen in the first round of the 2017 NBA Draft and he'll be the backup to starting center Timofey Mozgov, which again adds more frontcourt bodies ahead of Acy. Look for Acy's role to remain relatively the same or potentially even decline a bit in 2017-18, thus keeping his Fantasy upside extremely restricted.
Acy spent last season in Sacramento, where he gradually worked his way into a consistent role, appearing in 59 games and making a career-high 29 starts. For the season, Acy turned in averages of 5.2 points and 3.2 rebounds per game while shooting 55.6 percent from the floor and 38.8 percent from three-point range on 49 attempts. The forward joined the Mavericks on a two-year, $2.3 million deal in July, moving to his fourth franchise in as many years. As has been the case throughout his career, Acy will have to battle a number of players to earn his minutes in Dallas. He could eventually settle into a mop-up role in conjunction with Dwight Powell, where the two would cover the majority of the minutes at power forward when Dirk Nowitzki isn't on the court. That should result in only limited minutes off the bench for Acy, who isn't a consideration in most fantasy formats.
Acy is a third-year veteran in the NBA. In 68 games for the Knicksm last season, he averaged 19 minutes, 5.9 points, and 4.4 rebounds while shooting 46 percent from the field and 78 percent from the line. Acy's main asset is his ability to play with a high motor and be effective as a hustle player in and around the paint. His main weaknesses are being undersized (6-6) as a power forward and a lack of shot-blocking ability. Acy will have an opportunity to carve out minutes for himself behind DeMarcus Cousins in 2015 but is not starter material and is off the radar overall for fantasy purposes. He saw a lot of minutes at small forward for the Knicks, so his versatility could earn him action, too.
Acquired via trade this offseason, Acy joins the Knicks with averages of 3.1 points and 3.2 rebounds in 13 minutes per game during his two-year NBA career. The rugged 6-7, 225 pound forward was dealt to Sacramento at the beginning of last season and played 56 games for the Kings, averaging 3.6 rebounds in 14 minutes per game. As his numbers evidence, Acy is best used off the bench as a rebounding specialist, which should help a Knicks team that ranked 27th on the boards last season. Besides adding toughness and embracing his reserve role, Acy doesn't offer much potential on offense, which figures to keep his minutes and fantasy stock limited this season.
The Raptors are hoping that Acy can develop into a Reggie Evans-style glass crasher, but the young forward still has a long way to go before earning a regular spot in an NBA rotation.
Second round pick Acy seems destined for the D-League, but he has the attitude and skill set to develop into a Reggie Evans-like undersized rebounding specialist down the road.
