Tucker opened 2018 for Atlanta on the strong side of a platoon while Ronald Acuna honed his defense (cough, cough). Once Acuna's glove was deemed ready, Tucker was optioned to Triple-A Gwinnett, having posted a .769 OPS. However, Tucker never reported as an injury to Dansby Swanson opened a roster spot. Tucker rarely played until Acuna hurt his knee. The ensuing stint as a semi-regular was far less productive as a .498 OPS earned him another ticket to Gwinnett. Tucker then bounced between the majors and minors until being dealt to the Reds in late July. He played sparingly in August, battling injuries before being sent back to the Braves late in the month, finishing the year in a reserve role. Atlanta released him after the season. Once a promising prospect in the Astros' organization, Tucker will likely need to prove himself on a minor-league contract, which could be difficult considering he's a below-average defender.
