April 10, 2024
Phillips required his second career Tommy John surgery on his right elbow prior to spring training and will miss the entire 2024 season, Jonathan Mayo of MLB.com reports.
ANALYSIS
He opened the season on the Mariners' rookie-level Arizona Complex League club's 60-day injured list but won't be making his professional debut until sometime in 2025, if all goes well. Phillips had Tommy John surgery before Atlanta drafted him in 2022, and he was shipped to Seattle this offseason before his second such procedure.
