Closer Watch
Atlanta - Craig Kimbrel blew his second save of the season in his eleventh try Friday against the Mets when he gave up a solo home run to David Wright. Besides for that Kimbrel was quite impressive as he struck out the other three hitters he faced. There is no way that Kimbrel's position of closer is in jeopardy after this performance, but Atlanta does has a stacked bullpen with the likes of Eric O'Flaherty, Jordan Walden, and Cory Gearrin all having great years.
Mets - Jeurys Familia earned his first save of the 2013 season Friday night by throwing a perfect tenth inning against the Braves. With the Mets closer Bobby Parnell pitching the ninth inning and setup man Brandon Lyons pitching the ninth it was up to Familia to take the mound with the lead in the bottom of the tenth. This performance by no means that Familia is the Mets new closer, and he shouldn't even really be considered even in the deepest of leagues as he has yet to pick up a hold, has a 1.64 WHIP, and only has five strikouts over 7.1 innings.
Tigers - Jose Valverde has been quite impressive since returning the to the Tigers. In the four games he has pitched Valverde has yet to give up a run or even a hit, and has recorded three saves including one Friday at Houston. Whether Valverde is going to be able to keep up this pace may be in question, but it does seem that he has taken it upon himself to prove to every team that didn't want him as their closer that they made a mistake.

Recommended Pickup
Ryan Raburn, 2B/OF, CLE - From April 21to May 3 Raburn increased his batting average from .200 to .333 by getting 15 hits from 35 plate appearances over eight games. In that time Raburn went from off the radar to being one of the hottest pickups in fantasy baseball. Raburn's value not only lies with his hot bat, but also in his position eligibility as he qualifies at second base even though he is primarily playing in the outfield for the Indians. There is no reason why not to pick up Raburn if he is available on the waiver wire in just about any league because if he continues to hit anywhere close to what he has lately you may just find him on your competition's roster in the very near future.
