Closer Watch

Indians - Cody Allen picked up his second save of the season Friday when he pitched a perfect ninth inning at home against the Rockies. Before Friday Allen had given up runs in three of his previous six games, but looked great with the game on the line. John Axford had been relieved of the closer situation earlier in May, and since then Allen, Bryan Shaw, and Scott Atchison have all gotten saves. Right now it looks like Allen will be most likely to get the ball in the ninth, but for teams desperate for saves should look at the other options in the Indians bullpen.

Tigers - On Friday against the Mariners Joba Chamberlain picked up his second save of the season by giving up no hits, one walk, while striking out two. Chamberlain had picked up holds in three of his past four outings before Friday so it doesn't look as if Chamberlain will be relied upon to close games for the Mariners for the reast of the season, but for leagues that require setup men and middle relievers he is a great option off the waiver wire.

Michael Saunders, OF, SEA - In the two weeks before this past Friday Saunders accumulated 14 RBIs for the Mariners which is fourth in all of the bigs behind the likes of Edwin Encarnacion, George Springer, and Pablo Sandoval. The difference between Saunders and the three men ahead of him are that he is going to be available off the waiver wires in just about every league. On May 14 Saunders had a season low average of .229, and has since then only not gotten a hit in two games while raising his average to .276. Should your fantasy team have an outfielder that is in a cold streak, and Saunders is still available it would be wise to consider picking him up.
