Pitcher
Luis Perdomo, SD vs. ARI ($6,600): The last month (five starts) has been a good one for the 23-year-old Perdomo. His ERA during that span is 2.83 (3.42 xFIP) while he's pitched at least six innings in each start, going all nine once in a complete game against the Marlins. Perdomo has been especially successful against right-handers with a 3.56 xFIP on the season, and the Diamondbacks may run a lineup with eight right-handed batters (Jake Lamb being the one lefty). Over the course of the entire season, the Diamondbacks have a wRC+ of just 88 and strikeout-rate of 22.5 percent against right-handed pitchers.
Catcher
Sandy Leon, BOS at BAL ($2,500): Leon has dropped off after his hot start, which was always predictable given his BABIP numbers, but this price seems a slight over-correction given the matchup. Ubaldo Jimenez has allowed a 4.93 xFIP and 1.67 HR/9 against batters on the left side of the plate, and Leon's split against righties is still 110 wRC+. His net second half split also 110 wRC+.
First Base
Chris Davis, BAL vs. BOS ($3,800): Clay Buchholz has a 6.10 xFIP against lefties this season. Since August 7, Davis has 16 home runs. A BABIP of .227 during that span has kept his wRC+ at a solid, but not elite, 144 while his ISO during that span is .359. 30 of his 38 home runs this season have come against right-handed pitching.
Second Base
Howie Kendrick, LAD vs. SF ($2,500): This season Kendrick's numbers against righties are a little better than against lefties, but when expanding the sample size to include his entire career his wRC+ split against lefties is eight points higher than against righties. That's nothing big but, given the length of the sample size, it's worth noting. Away from home and against righties, opposition southpaw Matt Moore's xFIP is 5.05. Kendrick gives access to the leadoff spot in the Dodgers order plus a favorable righty-vs-lefty split at just $500 above the minimum.
Third Base
Jonathan Villar, MIL vs. PIT ($3,200): Now with 57 stolen bases on the season, Villar warrants consideration in most matchups. Base stealers don't require high-octane offense to return considerable value, but with 16 home runs Villar certainly isn't without that batting upside. Pirate's righty Chad Kuhl has been mediocre on the season with a 4.54 xFIP.
Shortstop
Addison Russell, CHC vs. CIN ($2,500): At some point it feels redundant to just target batters against the Reds pitching, but when they throw out Robert Stephenson and his 5.70 xFIP against righties (he's not good against lefties either) followed by one of the worst bullpens in the game, what can you do? Russell is available for a great discount at a thin position. He's really thrived at home this season with a 121 wRC+ and .219 ISO.
Outfield
Hyun Soo Kim, BAL vs. BOS ($2,800): Buchholz has given up eight runs in his last nine innings pitched and of course has that ugly 6.10 xFIP against lefties on the season. Kim's wRC+ against righties this season is 129 while usualy batting second in a strong Orioles lineup. The line is even, but given the over/under of 10 there will be enough offense to go around for both teams.
Max Kepler, MIN vs. DET ($2,800): After heating up considerably over the summer, Kepler has seen a considerable dip in form of late. His second half wRC+ is just 86. His split against righties features a competent 113 wRC+ and .228 ISO however while Tigers righty Buck Farmer has really struggled against lefties this season, allowing a 5.90 xFIP and 2.25 HR/9. Make sure to monitor the weather in Minnesota as lock approaches as there is a possibility for some thunderstorms.
Adam Eaton, CHW at PHI ($3,300): The White Sox offense has lacked punch for much of the season, but Eaton's been solid enough from the leadoff spot with a 116 wRC+ against right-handed pitching – against which he's also added 10 stolen bases. The Phillies' Jerad Eickhoff has struggled against lefties this season to the tune of a 4.82 xFIP and 1.45 HR/9 allowed.
