We wrap up the grind that is the regular season Sunday, and all 30 teams are featured in the afternoon main slate. Only 10 are moving on however, and only four or so are actually playing to determine their postseason. It makes the slate one of the most challenging of the year, as you have no reason to believe in what you'll get from those who are ready to start the offseason.
PITCHER
Walker Buehler, LAD at SFG ($10,000): With the division still on the line, the Dodgers will go all out Sunday, which includes allowing Buehler to work as deep into the game as possible. He's in a great groove, having allowed only two runs over his last three starts, spanning 20.0 innings while striking out 26. San Francisco ranks 27th against righties with a .293 wOBA, bringing an 84 wRC+ along with them. There are conflicting reports on who actually starts, with Rich Hill ($9,200) also under consideration. He makes for a fine option as well, with the Giants posting a .287 wOBA, 80 wRC+ and .129 ISO against lefties.
GPP Fade: Noah Syndergaard, NYM vs. FLA ($10,200): Fading Thor Sunday has nothing to do with him, his body of work or the matchup, the latter of which is enticing. It has everything to do with this being the final game of the season. Syndergaard hasn't been a pictue of health, and starting this game seems odd on its face, so imagining him working deep into Sunday is difficult. He can provide plenty of points still by going five frames with strikeouts, but you have to assume Syndergaard is on a very restrictive pitch count.
Cheap GPP Consideration: Gio Gonzalez, MIL vs. DET ($7,700): Gonzalez has been solid down the stretch, allowing a meager .238 wOBA to all hitters in September while fanning 20 in 20.1 innings and posting a 2.66 ERA. He'll have a great shot at earning a W Sunday opposing Spencer Turnbull, and the Tigers .314 wOBA against lefties shouldn't cause you to pause.
CATCHER/FIRST BASE
Mark Reynolds, WAS at COL ($3,100): Obviously confirmation that Reynolds is in the lineup is needed, but assuming he starts, he has a cheap tag for a player in Coors Field. He's fourth on the Nats against lefties with a .378 wOBA entering a matchup with Tyler Anderson.
SECOND BASE
Scooter Gennett, CIN vs. PIT ($3,700): Give me as many Reds as allowed Sunday against Clay Holmes, who has allowed 18 runs in 22.1 innings. With the full slate, Gennett is priced very favorably at the keystone, and his .374 wOBA and 134 wRC+ look very appealing.
THIRD BASE
Eugenio Suarez, CIN vs. PIT ($3,700): We just noted targeting Reds' bats, and I don't want to right their entire lineup up, but Suarez and Gennett both have great potential. Suarez has gone yard in consecutive games, and brings a .356 wOBA, 121 wRC+ and .226 ISO to the table Sunday.
SHORTSTOP
Adalberto Mondessi, KAN vs. CLE ($3,800): It's a shame that the season is concluding for Mondessi, who has equated himself well, largely under the radar. He is sporting a .379 wOBA, 140 wRC+ and .290 ISO during September, and the power rises to a .311 ISO against righties during that span.
OUTFIELD
Christian Yelich, MIL vs. DET ($4,900): The price is astronomical, but the heater that Yelich is on suggests he should be the building block for all lineups Sunday with the division title still on the line. His .426 wOBA, 169 wRC+ and .283 ISO against righties are obviously good enough, but those elevate to an obscene .570/265/.474 in September, fully justifying his price.
Mitch Haniger, SEA vs. TEX ($3,900):Yovani Gallardo allows a .401 wOBA to righties. Haniger leads the team in at-bats against righties and has a sound .361 wOBA and 134 wRC+ against.
Marwin Gonzalez, HOU at BAL ($3,300): All Astros bats are in play Sunday against O's starter Jimmy Yacabonis, who has a 6.75 home ERA. He's been particularly vulnerable against lefties however, allowing a .391 wOBA and .900 OPS. Houston's lineup isn't littered with left-handed bats, however, leading me to Gonzalez in spite of his .317 wOBA and .161 ISO against righties.
UTILITY
Justin Turner, LAD at SFG ($3,900): A plethora of Dodgers hit lefties well, so take your pick amongst their top-priced bats. Turner's .425 wOBA, 174 wRC+, .237 ISO and 1.008 OPS look nice at a sub 4k price.
