Yahoo DFS Soccer: Wednesday UCL Picks

FORWARDS

Lionel Messi, BAR v. BVB (€28): Messi has a goal or an assist in all but one of his last 10 outings -- failing to impact the score-sheet in his last UCL outing despite firing off eight shots. After drawing 0-0 in that one, Barcelona will want to right the ship against Borussia Dortmund on Wednesday. If the floodgates open up, the diminutive Argentine could easily deliver a cornucopia of shots, goals, and assists.

Mohamed Salah, LIV v. NAP (€27): Salah appears set to return to the lineup after recovering from a niggling ankle injury. While Napoli present a stiff challenge on paper, they are winless in six straight and the Egyptian has been stuffing the stat sheet with 11 shots, three goals, and two assists over his last three Champions League appearances.

Yussuf Poulsen, RBL v. BEF (€15): Poulsen is fit to return after missing out with an adductor injury over the weekend. He supplied an assist at Benfica when they met in September, and at nearly half the price, he can be considered a Black Friday bargain compared to strike partner Timo Werner (€29). With Werner expected to garner plenty of attention, Poulsen is a viable GPP pivot at lower ownership.

MIDFIELDERS

Marcel Sabitzer, RBL v. BEF (€25): Sabitzer's run of three straight games with a goal came to an end last weekend, but he continues to make his impact felt in the attack. He delivered an assist at Benfica in their Champions League opener, and he'll look to feast on a Portuguese defense that has conceded multiple goals in three of four UCL games.

Nicolae Stanciu, SLP v. INT (€16): Stanciu is averaging eight fantasy points per UCL game despite his paltry two-point effort at Barcelona last time out. He's producing points without goals or assists, but as Slavia Prague's primary set-piece taker, the opportunities will be there for Stanciu on Wednesday.

Jordan Henderson, LIV v. NAP (€13): Henderson is kind of like cranberry sauce at a holiday dinner; you're not really sure about it, then it actually turns out to be pretty good. He's averaging over eight points per game across his last four appearances, and while he can't be relied on for consistent attacking production, he typically does enough across the board elsewhere to pay off his cheap salary.

DEFENDERS

Trent Alexander-Arnold, LIV v. NAP (€19): Alexander-Arnold continues to put up eye-popping numbers for a defender. He should be good for his usual helping of crosses and chances created versus Napoli, and any goals or assists would be gravy on the mashed potatoes.

Junior Firpo, BAR v. BVB (€13): Junior continues to deputize for Jordi Alba at left-back, and he comes at a solid discount with Barcelona favored at home against Dortmund. While it's yet to be seen with Barcelona, he comes with good attacking upside, and if he can get involved going forward, he could deliver a point haul as good as deep-fried turkey.

Marcel Halstenberg, RBL v. BEF (€11): Halstenberg isn't shy about getting involved going forward from his left-back position. With Leipzig boasting the second-best clean sheet chances of any team on the board, we'll be eating pumpkin pie at the end of the night if Halstenberg turns up with both attacking and defensive points.

GOALKEEPER

Jakub Markovic, SLP v. INT (€11): Usual starter Ondrej Kolar is dealing with a minor injury, which could open up a near-minimum price Markovic if he gets the nod at home against Inter. With value hard to come by on this slate, it would be a blessing to roster the home goalkeeper at that price considering this game features the lowest total on the slate.
