Dream11 Fantasy Soccer: Bayern Munich v. Borussia Monchengladbach Preview

This article is part of our Dream11 Fantasy Soccer series.

Game Preview

Bayern Munich sit comfortably at the top of the standings with 70 points and own a seven-point lead over Borussia Dortmund with four games left in the schedule. In other words, Bayern need two more wins before the season ends with another Bundesliga title. Borussia Monchengladbach, on the other hand, have looked extremely inconsistent of late, winning just two of their last five contests. They remain alive on the race for a 2020-21 UEFA Champions League berth, but they have won just one of their last five (W1, D1, L2). They are tied in points with the fifth-placed team, Bayer Leverkusen, but edge them due to their superior goal differential. A win here would be massive, but it's unlikely they will get anything from their contest based on their recent form.

Top Picks

Serge Gnabry, Bayern Munich: Robert Lewandowski has found the back of the net in eight of his last nine contests in all competitions, tallying 10 goals and two assists during that stretch, but he will be suspended for this contest. Given the fact Thomas Muller is also suspended, Serge Gnabry could be a strong option up front. Despite playing wide, he might be the team's focal point on the attacking end. He has proven time and time he can be decisive when the situation calls for it.

Benjamin Pavard, Bayern Munich: It's odd to pick a defender as one of the main players in this DFS matchup, but Pavard has been outstanding for Bayern since the league resumed last month. The French international has been a constant source of production on both sides of the ball, and he tends to contribute regularly with either goals or assists – he has two goals in Bayern's last five games.

Lineup Strategies

Stack Bayern Munich with confidence: Bayern are at home, where they have lost just two of 15 games this season (W11, D2, L2) while scoring 15 goals in their last four games in this venue. It's safe to treat them as favorites, especially since Gladbach have not won in their last two away contests. As such, targeting players such as Benjamin Pavard (9 credits), Alphonso Davies (8.5 credits) and Leon Goretzka (9 credits) are good alternatives alongside clear-cut starters such as Manuel Neuer (8.5 credits) and Serge Gnabry (9.5 credits).

Where the value lies for Monchengladbach: With users being forced to pick at least four Monchengladbach players, there is value on some decent alternatives. One of Patrick Herrmann (9 credits) or Marcus Thuram (10 credits) would be strong choices, though spending on both could reduce the attacking potential that would be better suited for Bayern. Ramy Bensebaini (9 credits) is a strong alternative on defense, while Florian Neuhaus (8.5 credits) and Jonas Hofmann (8.5 credits) could provide value in midfield.
